Printing up some prototype mounts for the hex rack currently. This prototype is just a big open hook, similar to my camp chair hooks. I want to be able to roll up my rain jacket and just stuff it into a pair of these hooks. The mounting solution uses a backplate that aligns with holes in the hook. I'll post pictures once I have it dialed in a bit more.

Got some pouches on order. (mostly) Figured out how I'm going to mount the FE with cut down Super Quick Fists.

Next will be building the rip-away FAK from scratch.

Really loving the idea of better storage organization for some of the stuff that is basically just thrown in the back.

What kind of straps does it use? Built-in fabric straps with snap buttons? Plastic MALICE clips?

TacomaWorld won't allow STL attachments. I do have other means to make them publicly available. What do you want posted? Just the HEX hole back plate that would allow a quick fist to be mounted or what not? Or just all the things?

@MESO Asking for a friend, of course.... If I (I mean, my friend) were to need some additional jack nuts, how would I (oops... he) go about acquiring 4 or 5? :anonymous:

Shoot me a ticket/message through the bottom of my website. I included extra hardware. Did your friend mess all of them up?!

Message has been sent via the website. "My friend" had issues with two of them while installing (one stripped out because "he" didn't thread the install nut deep enough, and the other didn't grip tight enough and spun free). So "he" used the two extras that were supplied in the kit, and everything was great. Until today, when "he" removed the rack to get at the backside in order to better weave the molle gear "he" was trying to install. When "he" went to reinstall the rack, another one of the jacknuts spun free.

Side note (possibly related) - the longer bolts that are supplied with the handle retention kit seem to be a slightly coarser thread than the ones supplied with the rack, and they feel like they're ever so slightly binding up when they're being threaded in. They do thread, but it seems to take a little more force than the shorter ones supplied with the rack. The ones supplied with the rack can easily be threaded by hand, but the longer ones required a hex wrench to thread in.

If anyone figures out the best jacknut to use for recovery of ‘oopsies’ maybe a good PSA would be to post the source here.

Printing the hook part now. The holes in the hook line up with this plate.

That looks like it would also work well with quick fist mounts!

It definitely would. This is actually 3 hex chips on one single back plate, but it would be easy to just make a single (or double) chip with a back plate.

Be sure to check your handle retention kit. They bolts supplied are in or
These are great! When will these be available for quick fists?

I just posted the STL file for free. I haven't printed and test fit this single chip yet. I will do that as soon as my current coat hooks are done on the printer (so, probably get to it tomorrow-ish). I will post any refinements to this single chip as I get it dialed in, but this first edition should work ok. It might not be tight in the hex hole but if you're screwing anything into it (quick fist) then it won't matter.

If you want me to print you a 4 set, shipped, I would request $20. I have red, orange, yellow, green, black and white. If you want custom hooks, etc, let me know. DM me for more details.

I think a double would probably be perfect for my needs! I plan on mounting an Element E50 fire extinguisher on it and those are pretty small and narrow.

There should be enough space between each single to put two next to each other. If you have access to a printer give the STL file a try and let us know how it works out?

I don't have access to a printer unfortunately. I don't mind waiting or being a guinea pig if someone else wants to give it a try though.

Suppose I should have asked @MESO first. Not trying to rain on his potential future product idea! :crapstorm:
