I keep one of these behind the rear passenger seat.

Does anyone have any issue with the 1up anti wobble bolt slowly backing out?

Yeah, others have observed the same. I tighten mine periodically. Not sure there’s a better fix out there.

Yep. I had to hammer/chisel/sawzall the ballmount out of my Ranger that has been seized in my receiver since I bought it 8 years ago.

I just chalked it up to it being a rusty mess in there. It came loose the first week.

I'll just keep an eye on it for now. Give it a tighten every time I gas up or something.

Recently received my ISI bike carrier, super impressed with it! This thing is super overbuilt and feels absolutely rock solid. I wanted something I could use with the RTT as getting bikes in and out of the tailgate with it on is annoying and a 29er takes up a lot of bed space when we're going camping! Looked at 1up as well but my problem with most hitch racks was how they kill the already bad departure angle on these trucks. I thought about a roof rack but that's no good either on trails with any sort of overhead trees and seemed like it would be a pain day to day. North Shore rack was a no go since you can't put road bikes on them.

    The good:
    - Super solid construction. Feels absolutely bombproof.
    - The hitch stabilizer works really well, and I haven't had a problem with it backing out so far like you see with 1up
    - 40 degree departure angle, and the bikes are kept up nice and high and out of danger
    - 4 bike extension available like 1up
    - If you pull one of the pins, you can lower it all the way to the ground with bikes loaded which means you can still access the tailgate without taking the bikes off

    The not so good:
    - If you're running lots of different bikes all the time the wheel cradle adjustments might be a bit of a pain. You need an allen key to adjust the width of the wheel cradles. I think someone on another forum just asked for a couple more T screws to make it a bit faster
    - There's no fold up when there's no bikes on it, so the best option is to take the pins out and leave the main part in the hitch since that also requires tools to take on/off. Not a huge deal but you could really kill your shins on this thing. I think this is just a tradeoff compared to Thule/Kuat/1Up where the design means it isn't possible to fold upwards. Worth it to me, but I can see it being not worth it if you're only on fire roads or paved roads to get to trailheads.
    - I'm not sure how well the steel bars are going to fare over time. I mostly use my MTB in the summer so it's not going to be a huge deal but I would have liked to see an aluminum option. Would probably be cost-prohibitive though.

    I don't have any friends so I don't need a bike carrier. :p

One bike fits fine in the bed. Chain it to the tie down point for security.

I had never heard of this company. Ou of Australia I see? Is anything on the rack itself lockable? The arms that hold the bikes in place? The hitch? There website is really confusing but I see they have an "order in the US" special that has you email them to confirm your vehicle and what they recommend.

I am eyeing the 1UP but have not pulled the trigget yet and keeping my options open. I am trying to stay away from the traditional Thule/Yakima brands. Too much plastic and cost in paying for the name. The last Thule rook rack I bought I was not thrilled with.

I just emailed them to order, they asked a couple questions about the vehicle and then sent me a PayPal invoice that included tax + shipping which was around $150. Rack arrived in less than a week to Canada from Australia which was super impressive!

No lock points, but you could run a cable lock through the bikes to your safety chain holes on the hitch no problem. As for the rack itself, the upright arms are easy to take off when not in use, could store them in the cab or something if you were concerned. The wheel trays and main pivot portion are tougher to secure but I’m not too concerned about them getting taken on their own. Because they don’t fold up I won’t be leaving them on when the rack isn’t in use (other than out riding) and it’s only like a 10 second job to get it on/off the hitch connector.

The only bit I leave in is the hitch connector and it’s like a 22mm socket or something, I can’t imagine a thief walking around with one but maybe! You could ask them for suggestions, they may have an alternative bolt or lockable pin or something.

My Kuat did the same thing. I periodically changed the lock washer with a fresh one and it made a huge difference.

Race face and this backcountry one seems to fit best and be able to use the camera but I’d rather have a goat on the back than raceface 97064BDF-23A9-490D-9C4A-2ABA50FD297F.jpg 598D1C16-02CC-4068-B67D-EA370C29E9EC.jpg

I have a mictuning pad. The only complaint, the opening for the tailgate handle blocks the rear camera.

But for the price, it has alot of the same features as the "better" ones.
