the only thing worse than blind Musk followers are folks who are blindly anti-Musk-related projects.

who wants to be on the side of oil companies, car dealers, phone companies, TRAFFIC, and aerospace monopolies?!

Drive through three feet of water?

I think the Rivian, or any BEV that attempts to drive through a road flooded by three feet of water. Will become as useless any ICE vehicle that attempts the same.

Even GMC is saying in their marketing that the Hummer’s can go through 28-32” of water (depending on whether you are in “Extract Mode”). When the Marketing material has specs like that they know customers are going to attempt it, whether they need to or not, and they aren’t going to take the liability of fixing everyone that “became useless”.

I don't know if they are lying. Have BEV been tested during summer thunder storm, or a hurricane where three feet of water can make a road impassable for passenger vehicles?

Three feet of high flowing river is different than “three feet of water”.

Well they give a maximum fording depth. Rivian is 39" to 42" No one should be driving in a hurricane or go through deep water in ANY vehicle. I've gone over my hood in my Land Cruiser and it's deigned for water fording. So are these EV trucks. If you get one then stay away from water crossings.

I don't see the need for the exaggerated claims of what a vehicle can do. When most buyers won't attempt to drive through water.

Offroading and water crossings are one thing. I think that most people who drive through water. Do so unintentionally.

But some will attempt it and the manufacturer has given the owner the maximum depth warning.

The truck can probably ford a river with no problem, but people drive their Accords into flash floods, every time there is a flash flood.

Hey! my Rivian can ford three feet of water, I'm going to go right around this disabled Accord.

Okay, and if they go through it deeper than they say, oh well. People do stupid things and car manufacturers make info to them clearly available. If they can't judge their surroundings they shouldn't be driving.

Marketing hype. Could be a realistic figure, but they also claim on the same page it “ handles like a sports car on the road”. Lofty claim for a vehicle with 14 inches of ground clearance. I’ll wait until we see them in the wild.

Yea I said it’s a realistic figure, show me it taking a turn at 140 on a racetrack then we’ll talk.

Why would anyone need to take a turn at 140 in a truck? You sound ridiculous.

It tops out at 125 so that would be wildly reckless.

Okay I'm reaching deep, but here goes.

What if I don't have enough range to take the route that would go around the flood prone area when there is the potential for flooding?

I’m referencing my previous comment about them claiming it handles like a sports car on the road, the part of their ad I was skeptical about, keep up bud.

They claim to take a turn at 140 mph? that sounds unrealistic for most sports cars.
