I ordered a Leer 100XR with "windoors" for my 2019 access cab Tacoma. I was told to expect delivery in 6-8 weeks. Tomorrow is 8 weeks so I called the dealer today. They said that production on the unit had started (so I can't cancel the order) but it would be an additional 4-5 weeks because of a glass shortage at the plant. Are these kind of delivery delays typical for Leer? When I was told 8 weeks originally, I figured that with pandemic and all I should cut them some slack. But now an additional 5 week delay seems a lot. Or am I being churlish?

I know someone else that has a 15 week delay.

I ordered my leer in the first week of January and received it on 1 April so 12 to 13 weeks. They said the delay was for a windoor. Unfortunately they didn't install carpet so they shipped it back and told me the turnaround is a month. It will be 4 weeks since I dropped it off, tomorrow. Overall, it's been 5 months and they still haven't made me whole.

Well, I guess my expectations for delivery when promised were entirely unrealistic. Thanks for bringing me to back to reality.

Just curious, where are you ordering from? I ordered from Utah and the leer manufacturer is in California.

i just ordered an ARE overland... 18 weeks out. plant is in ohio, ohio is still in crazy lockdown. the plant is having issues getting fiberglass resin. Cant get anyone to come back to work.. Is running about half staffed. Anyone with the sniffles gets automatic 2 weeks off no questions asked. So they cant keep anyone at work.. They had to give BONUSES to get people to come back to work to begin with.. they were producing about 250 shells a day.. now they are down to 80, with a 20,000 order backlog...

I’m in Seattle, so I assume mine is coming from the California plant as well.

Same sad story for me as well. Ordered an A.R.E. shell on March 11th. Was originally told mid-May. I called them last week and they said now it's late June or even July because of a resin shortage. The factory is in Longbeach, CA (Snugtop and A.R.E. are made in the same factory I believe).

It's very frustrating, but what can you do? The company has no incentive to have a delay, so I truly believe they are at the mercy of the supply chain.

I recently picked up my 100xr and was dismayed to find the windoors are complete trash. Rubber seals are popping out everywhere, glue slopped all over. Where the metal frame is screwed together the heads of the screws are sticking out (a lot) and not flush. Phillips drive stripped out and mangled. I can see daylight through the holes next to the screws because they hogged out the holes messing with it. Couldn't even get sealant in there, has leaked water since day one. Whoever built it obviously had no experience with a drill gun

Complained about the shoddy construction and the leer dealer says he'll order some more but warned me it may be months before they get delivered

The fiberglass body and rear glass are the good quality I've come to expect from leer.. but the windoors look like they were assembled by a 10 yr old.. Total friday afternoon job :(

    Hopefully yours will be better

My local dealer told me 2-4 months from the jump. A month and a half have gone by and I’m chomping at the bit to get it.

I ordered a 100XR on 6/18 (they said it would be 6-8 weeks) and it came in on Monday 8/2 -- right at 6 weeks. I went in wanting a SnugTop but they said the delays were ridiculous so I went with the Leer. I like it.

Mine is pretty basic with a front slider, frameless rear glass, sliding side windows with screens (framed) and a headliner so maybe that sped it up a little.

Only real build quality issue I've detected with mine so far is that the headliner was a little loose/sloppy in the front corners... but pressing it in to the corners put a little tension on it and snugged it up/took out the slack.

I was quoted 16 weeks when I called last week for Leer, I was told 18 for ARB.

I haven't tried to get a quote for a Century but from what I understand those are Leer caps without the branding and are made in the same plant so I assume the lead time is similar, especially if they are dealing with product shortages (thanks, supply chains). Especially if Leer is giving Leer brand priority due to the higher profits.

The gentleman who I spoke with who gave me quotes told me, "I'd order now if you're going to want it any time soon, I don't think these lead times are getting better for quite some time" - pretty sound advice for most anything big ticket at this point.

Dang. Sorta related, this ended up being about $500 more than when I last looked into getting one (pre-covid).

I know this is a bit of an old post but I found it wondering if I was alone going through a similar situation with Leer.
I was told 8 weeks when I ordered in March and I’m on my 4th delay. The 3rd delay they said they have no idea when I’d get it. A leer rep called me to inform me of the 2nd 4 week delay and was really rude. He said the current lead time was 16 weeks, my order was at 17. I was supposed to be happy I even got an order with them because they are so busy. I’m also lucky to be in the 10% orders that are late, lucky me. I asked what he was doing for the 10% since the company is doing so well and he acted as though I asked for a free canopy. “Well, what do you want?!” I did get the roof rack tracks taken off after literally arguing with him.
They are currently saying I’ll get it in Sept. 3 times the quoted lead time at 24 weeks. But they were very sure to mention it could fail inspection and take longer. I’m almost certain the latest 5 week quote is just to buy time and they will say it failed inspection. I don’t trust them at all and will never buy leer again.

My leer dealer told me the last one he ordered was there in 3 weeks but they were still being told to tell people 6-8:fingerscrossed: it’s only been two weeks so far for me so I hope it doesn’t turn into a bunch of delays

My Leer dealer told me the last one he ordered he got in 4-5 weeks. I believe it was for a Ford. I think they are much more popular and get made faster? Who knows.
