All of those other heavily shorted stocks follow GME. AMC, KOSS, NAKD, etc. They move independently sometimes, but when GME has a major price movement, they all tend to fall in line. The algos have to keep them all in sync and under control. If one of them breaks loose and accidentally starts a margin call, it's game over.

The big swingin' dick is GME and its multiple float short, so they can let the others gain some ground if they have to while they burn ammo to keep it under control. AMC is fine to let run up a bit. There's no real risk of it causing any problems. But they can't let it run up too much, or FOMO might pile in and cause a problem.

The reason Amazon doesn’t split is that the high cost keeps out some of the filth - retail investors buying and selling constantly like the cheap stocks allow. It keeps retail at bay and keeps institutional investors as their bread and butter. Keeps things more stable for the company too.
