Hey guys my name is Vic and I’m new to the forum! Got a 5 lug that I decided to put 33s on and I think I got a hole in my gas tank lol. Before I go re gearing is there anything else you guys can suggest? Thanks a lot, y’all! God Bless America!

Put the factory tires back on it. What was your MPG before tires, and after?

Run a street tire. It can be a 235 75 15 on OE wheels and not need any work to clear.

Your tire choice has shot yourself in the foot, for looks, as everyone knows our 5 lugs are not 4wd

Regearing a 5lug be a bit challenging. It will return some performance you've hampered your 4 pot with, but it may not alter/improve MPG.

Since your speedo/odo are now out of whack, have you factored that into your MPG calculation? If not, it's not dropped as much as you think. Unless you are harder on throttle to compensate for the sluggishness of those cement shoes.

Yeah that’s not an option at this point lol. Honestly, I’m not sure but I want to say I was around high 300 to 400 miles range on a tank and now I’m like 270 or so.

MPT isn't a thing. And 3-400 miles is a huge variance.

Do the math. It won't hurt. Really.

Okay. well, I guess there isn’t anything I can do then haha. I was just looking for some suggestions other than the obvious go back to stock or similar. I’ll keep her the way she is as she looks great. Thanks

Alright, bro. Listen, I’m not great at math and I’m telling you i average HIGH 3s to low 4s on a tank of fuel, So if it’s bothering you, why don’t you do the math for me? If you’re just going to bust my balls you can stop replying on my thread, thanks.

Comes with the territory. My wife has a RAV4. We use it on trips. My kids share a CRV. I pay for gas, I hear OPEC needs cash.

Swap the hood for a Sport hood. The skewp is good for a solid 15 hp gain and at least 3-4 more mpg!

Miles per tank is useless information, someone will be happy to do the math if you provide the numbers. It ain't hard to figure miles per gallon. Fill up truck. Drive until you're down below 1/4 tank. Fill up again and write down how many gallons it takes and how many miles you drove. Lets say you drove 250 miles on 15 gallons. Simply divide 250 by 15 for 16.6 mpg. You have a calculator on your phone.

But to do it right you need to get a bit more complex. For one thing your bigger tires are now making both the odometer and speedometer inaccurate. You are really driving a lot farther and faster than your odometer and speedometer says you are. Meaning your fuel mileage isn't as bad as you think.

Use this website to figure out just how far you're off. Plug in the factory tire size and the new size. Just a SWAG, but you're probably off by about 10%, which is a lot. That means you have to 1st multiply the miles your odometer says by 1.10 to determine how far you really drove. So 250 X 1.10 = 275. Then divide 275 by the fuel used. 275/15=18.3 mpg.

If your speedometer says you're doing 60 mph, you're really doing closer to 66 mph. Driving faster hurts fuel mileage too.

Got a lot of stuff lol
When I still had my 4 cyl on 33s I only got about 220 miles per tank but I drive my vehicles hard so in know that doesn't help. For my speedo I just tell myself I'm doing +10 more than what it says and that gets it close enough. If want to truly know how your doing gas wise a scan gauge has mpg options so you can track all that as well as have an adjusted speedo.

I'm curious what my 1uz will get with 4:30s and 33s but I'm still on my first tank.

Stickers will reduce mileage. Increased drag.

Lol, I need to adapt your mindset. My wife also has a RAV4 and it's the Hybrid. Gets around 40 mpg. We are headed to the beach here in a couple weeks which will be 1,200 miles round trip and I'm hell bent on driving my Taco.
