That is crazy. Glad the cup did it's job. I can't imagine how that felt (or Wheeler last night etc.) I never had that happen, fortunately. In my goalie days, it didn't matter because of the equipment and now playing forward in men's league, luckily that's never happened. But I've had a 2 shot-blocks to the thigh that turned my leg purple even with top of the line Bauer Vapor pants, which are nicely padded. So I can't even imagine taking that shot to the nuts. Glad you survived that one.

 

Reffing is where you take the worst blows. Ref pads are just thin enough to prevent major injury but not slow you down. I don't know a ref that does games above Bantam who doesn't have a sever injury story. My worst was getting my bell rung as a linesman in a fight where one kid wouldn't let up. I had a rookie partner who didn't take down the arms of his player so I got thumped in the back of the head hard. Finished the game and drove myself to the ER, but I don't remember the rest of that game or arriving at the ER. All I remember now is my wife picking me up because the doctor wouldn't let me leave on my own.

 

That's crazy. And while I probably never would have thought about that on my own, hearing you say that doesn't surprise me. I give all refs props, it's not an easy job at any level.

They really do. It's kind of funny. Especially on the tying goal, they wasted no time panning to him lol.

Like I said, I don't hate the guy at all. In fact, his speed and ability to play at speed is insane to watch and I enjoy seeing it. But I do think his overall game needs to be better. I do not like the narrative that if he skates around and gets a couple points, that it means that he's absolved from blame and he's great, but the rest of the team sucks. Like I said earlier, before they put him on a line with Leon, he was a ghost. They put those 2 together and and sure they got points, but I think that really hurt the depth of the line-up which made things easier for Jets to match-up. And he doesn't do anywhere near the little things all over the ice, like someone like Crosby. That stuff adds up. It's up to him to win some battles, play defense when needed and make his linemates better (that aren't Leon.) Just my opinion though.

 

He needs to learn to do what Matthews doing, just laugh things off on the ice. Literally half of the reaction zoom ins on Matthews are him chuckling lol.

Told you, man. Montreal has 0 firepower or powerplay. Obviously the Leafs played a great game but I wasn't worried at all, after that 1st game. Tonight's game the Leafs were so good that it was almost boring. Happy for Campbell too. How about Galchenyuk just dishing it all over the place? Lol. Where did that come from?

So I saw that Pierre had recently made comments about how McDavid needs to look at his 200ft game before they can win. And it may sacrifice his offensive numbers but it needs to be done. This is EXACTLY what I was trying to say a few posts above. Good for Pierre for actually saying this, because no media people want to say that, because they will get hammered. But I believe it's true.
