I toyed around with getting those towers to do a shock relocation on my truck. Also another good example of a rosette weld.

 

I have been using this style shock mount on the front but they were 3/16. I am using them on the front and rear this time but these are 1/4. You wouldn't think a 1/16 thicker would be much but it is a lot, much heavier. But this time they support the entire weight of the vehicle.

Are you planning on tuning braces between the mounts to prevent twisting?

 

Has anyone rebuilt CVs before? The inner looks like a pain to get off. CVJ has complete +2’s for $1250 a pair. Trying to decide if it’s worth it to just buy the +2 axles, boot kit and some old OEM cvs and do it myself.

Yes its not too bad. If the spline for the inner joint is stuck it can be a PITA to get the tripod off but not terrible.

 

What'd you use to get the inner joint off?

 

A hammer and a punch.

I have my ends confused. The outer is the one that looks like a pain to remove.

 

does your cage need to be removed? Broken?

 

Mine was fine so i didnt replace it

 

I’d be building +2 cvs so I’d have to replace the axle shaft

 

Gotcha, watch this video it’s a good one. The inner joint isn’t bad it looks like just gotta have the tools to do it and don’t expect a 2 sec job.
