The idea that you could literally manufacture your own fuel (solar panel, regenerative braking) is wild. On certain scales, that's basically unlimited range.

    This thread is getting wild.

It's not high performance unless you can drift one handed at 140 mph without spilling your champagne.

It's not water resistant unless it can drive on the ocean floor while fishing out the window without the occupants getting wet.

BEV's will never work; for all we know lithium ions are a hoax created by Duracell.

Dc-x vtvl rockets were proven in the 80s. What spacex does is cool. The hype/Musk bullshit “we are building a mars colony” bs is not. Never gonna happen. Cyber truck is never gonna make it either.

they said Tesla would never be able to mass produce cars, SpaceX would never be able to do reuseable rockets, etc.

I'm no Elon Musk fan but to try to minimize what they have done so far is a little ridiculous.

Comparing what they do to actual mass production done by every other auto manufacturer is more than ridiculous. Would you buy a Tacoma slapped together by hand in a tent with misaligned body panels and a bumper that falls off from rain?

Compared to manufacturers that can't get white paint right, have frames that rust out prematurely, can't even put in power seats in a truck until 2020, fuel pump recalls.....etc.

Musk has yet to deliver a roas
Companies like Ford and Toyota produce more of just one model of car than what Tesla has managed to build in 18 years. They will one day build more evs than Tesla will ever build because they understand how to build cars and are not focussing their resources on shit posting to twitter about shit coin memes. Musk sells vaporware to morons that dont realize they are in a cult.

Of course it will happen, it just won't happen for the price he bragged he could do.

Lets be honest, its just a different body on the same engine and chassis he is already making hundreds of thousands of.

Problem is he is already overpromised on Model S,X refreshes, roadster, semi and of course collected money on those. Tesla struggles as it is to slap the misaligned body panels on their chassis. At some point Musk needs to nut up or shut up. Privately Tesla has already started to admit publicly that Musk is completely full of shit with "Full self driving" claims. Imagine dropping $10K for a software feature that in reality won't exist for decades.

I’m curious, have you been in or driven a Tesla? Do you have experience with the current version of “AutoPilot”?

He's just a Musk hater. Musk must of done something he couldn't do so he hates on him in every EV thread and just makes up things to get a rise out of people.

Of course he did, its all hype. Remember the whole battery swapping thing you could do in 90 seconds? They showed it off, got lots of headlines, then nothing. Vaporware. Its all hype, but its working for Tesla almost as good as Apple.

What other new car company in the last 20 years has had the same success as Tesla?

I can tell the difference between a cult and a car company. Right now its blurry at best. I have nothing against EVs or even the product reality of what Tesla is.

I'd say its premature to celebrate. Toyota and others are playing on a much longer time line/horizon than Musky can afford. I think Tesla has a brighter future as a niche company ultimately without Musk involved and at a much much lower stock price inline with the bet that Michael Burry just made on it.

Would love a Tacoma Prime Plug-In Hybrid. ~50ish EV miles for in town errands and gas motor for the highway trips and towing.

Im all in Tacoma hybrid plug in. Best of both worlds. Im sure by the time im in my 80s they will have a pure electric taco that can be charged off a tiny bed windmill or solar panels but I like the idea of some insurance that they hybrid offers.

Well Tesla and Toyota are spurring the EV, hybrid and PHEV market. Is Toyota a cult?

Definitely, Saturn. Saturn was vastly more successful.
