I signed up for a month of Adobe Photoshop to do some work for a buddy that I couldn't just do in gimp.

I guess I didn't read the terms of use because it's a $43 cancellation fee if I don't continue the $23/mo payments for a full year. :homer:

I probably would have forgotten and let the subscription run out but the constant cloud updates prompt me for my password every hour

Man I miss the days of just owning Photoshop and other Adobe programs outright. Was expensive ($400+ for student version) but at least you owned it from then on out.

Now it's a monthly subscription...Adobe probably rakes in way more $ long term this way. Luckily I have access to my work Adobe log-in at home if I need to use it outside the office. If I ever leave here though I'll have to get my own subscription...or hope that my CS5 version from 2015 still works (probably doesn't on current operating systems)

what kind of editing do you need to do?

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
I got sucked into some Adobe fee that hits me for $25 each month. I may need it after all. The new camera's pictures don't look at good as my Moto cell phone. Not sure how I will be able to make some close up pictures. The cell phone reds look like a Technicolor production which is good when making engine pictures.

My buddy asked me if I could touch up his business logo so he could order some merchandise and Gimp wasn't compatible with the format and transparency

I've never used any other editing program besides Adobe...I've wondered if they can recognize adobe files or not. Seems that would be a big downside to using them if they can't

I think .DNG is supposedly a universal hi res/raw format

DNG and TIF are pretty good, both compatible with transparency too
