I love my new truck! Very happy about the purchase but now I have questions. I want to consider a lift kit.

(In your opinion) Will a 3 inch or 4 inch work best?
    • I want to sit higher on the road.
    • I want a more aggressive stance.
    • But keep in mind this is also a daily driver.
    • I would like something aftermarket, not dealer, to save on cost.
    • Most affordable option for the desired look and decent performance (does not need to be high end for off road).
I currently have 16 inch rims on the truck that I like, the tires should be upgraded to an A/T (my opinion, all I need in Florida).
    • Current tires are P245/75 R16.
    • Any recommendations about best performing, looking, A/T tires for traction?
    • Future towing would consist of a jet ski or two, maybe a small boat (19-24 foot), or a trailer if I help anyone move. Basic usage.

I'd look into the several good 2" kits - Eibach, OME, Bilstein, Dobinsons, etc.

Why do you feel 2" would be the better route (vs 3" or 4")?

Unless you need the extra height for off-roading, it's advised to stay away from the lifts 3"+ on these trucks. Several threads in this section and the suspension section about it, but to sum it up the problems of lifting really start to come out at that height and if it's just for looks, in order to do a 3"+ lift right, it's rather expensive.

you gotta pay to play if you want to go any higher than 3" on these trucks. 3" is where you have to start changing out control arms to get alignments correct / have enough adjustment.

Go with the 2" kit, keep your 16" rims, Falken Wildpeaks in 265/75 if you want minimal issues, 285/75 if you just can't help yourself.

Depends on your rim choice a little but it will likely sit kinda like this....

So I can do 285/75 and keep the 16" rims? I wasn't sure about that,

What do people mean when they talk about having 33" tires or 32" tires? If I have P245/75R16 what does that mean (24.5 inches)?

@CT Yankee - Thank you but your link doesn't actually answer my question.

Did you read it? The link answers your question perfectly on how tire size is determined for metric tires.

There are thousands of threads that already talk to 2”-3” lifts as well as 4”+. I recommend using the search function on the forum and doing some research.

Get a handle on the basics before throwing stuff on your truck.

Another good resource to take all those xxx/xx/Rxx size of tires and see what they mean, how many inches is this and that is tiresize.com. It's very handy. I do believe the general consensus is here on the forums that one could run a 3rd Gen Taco with a 2" to 2.75" leveling, suspension lift, or spacer lift with up to 32" tires with no rubbing. 33" and above (285/75/R16 (or R17)) would need a CMC (Cab Mount Chop) which requires cutting of the frame and welding work. Hang in there and keep reading and don't be discouraged by these people on the forums that have quickly forgotten that they didn't know everything when they got into this either. :) I recently did an ICON Stage 2 lift on my 20 TRD Off Road and I kept my stock wheels and running 265/75/R16 BFG KO2s and I am very happy with this. Gives it a nice lift, good stance, and helps with clearance on the trails. We off road pretty regularly but we aren't rock crawlers so this works for us. Lots of options out there, but yeah, lots of research needed.

Not, it does not. You obviously didn't really check out the link I gave you explaining what the "245" meant. The 33" or 32" you mention is the outer diameter of the tire.
You might check out this link: As @JoeCOVA said, "Get a handle on the basics before throwing stuff on your truck."

The outer diameter was described, in the article, in terms of millimeters and not inches. That's probably where the confusion is. But thanks.

The "245" is the sidewall width in millimeters. 245 mm = 9.65 inches. Has nothing to do with diameter of the tire.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. 245 is the tread width in millimeters, and it does help determine the diameter of the tire.

Edited: Mia culpa. I stand corrected - maybe.
    Judging from this image:
    upload_2021-5-26_16-37-19.jpg

I'm not convinced it's tread width. The tread on my 265s measures 8" whereas 265 mm converts to 10.433 inches.
