Well, if anything he could make them out of a different material, injection molded, or even milled out of something.

I have a friend with a printer, but he's only done table top models (DnD style). Something involving 95% alcohol and UV curing. I know there's a few different types of printers. My uneducated question: is this feasible with his type of printer?

Any popular filament printer is likely to be able to handle this. 3D Prints don't tend to do their best under tension vs. compression (there is a bias direction of course). But for the purposes here, a common $350 printer can probably cover this for you.

Do you just screw into the plastic of the hex plates? A recessed hole on the back that a nut could press fit down in and give you good thread engagement would be nice.

I don’t have any friends with a printer but I do have one with a CNC, getting a couple of these made out of aluminium hopefully today, I’ll let you guys know if they fit side by side. My intended use is also for a extinguisher.

Reymataco if you’re ever in Atlantic Canada I’ll buy you a few beers for sharing!!

I am just screwing into the plastic currently, yes. I made the hole size just right for the screws I am using. I will post a revision with a recessed hole in the back for a small nut, as you suggested! The trick will be to get the right size/shape for that hole. Different screws would take different sized nuts. Best bet would be to find a screw size that works with your average quick fist, and find the nut that goes with that, and design around it. Best use would include said specific screw/nut specs so the hole is the right size for the screw, and the recess the right size for the nut.

If you're going to use real materials (like aluminum) you might want to wait until I do a test print or two and clean up the file a bit more? Up to you! I believe two should fit side by side from my measurements.

I swapped out the stainless screws/washers for black oxide screws and black fiber washers today. Color me odd but after pretty much eliminating all the chrome in the interior, I had to swap these, too.

I really love the quality and function of this rack. Well done, @MESO !!

Now I'm truly jonesing over a set of the V2 Dual Color map lights and the V2 Ultimate Dome light. Of course, I will be travelling in the coming future and it would be just my luck to miss the restock.

    With stainless steel screws/washers.

I concur, black hardware is the way to go. I will have to change for future production.

What are the sizes you use and where did you get them at?

I changed the design of my coat hook, it was sticking down too far interfering with the rear view. When these are done printing, I will double back and perfect the single hex mounting plate. I am rushing to get these prototypes installed before my camping trip this weekend, so I can try them out. So the single hex plate should be ready next week sometime.

I ordered M6x1.0 20mm & 30mm (length) button cap with hex drive, and associated nuts/washers for the single hex plate. They should be here over the long weekend. I will design the plate to work with those, FYI. The length needed might be different depending on what you're trying to mount. I have some quick fists laying around, so I will include fitting those in my design process.

I ordered the screws from FMW Fasteners. https://www.fmwfasteners.com/collec...et-cap-screws-12-9-alloy-iso-7380-black-oxide

I got: 2 X M6-1.00 X 45 Button Socket Cap Screws, Black Oxide, Metric (Part #2198062) (Rear of rack)
2 X M6-1.00 X 60 Button Socket Cap Screws, Black Oxide, Metric (Part #2198065) (Behind Dome Light)
2 X M6-1.00 X 14 Button Socket Cap Screws, Black Oxide, Metric (Part #2198055) (Side Dome Light) (MESO uses 15s - FMW only has 14s and 16s. I bough both - 14s work perfectly.

I also used black fiber washers that I picked up at my local hardware store on each screw.

This shape works better. Roll up my North Face rain jacket, slip it into a pair of these hooks. Why do I need quick access to my rain jacket? Because its raining! :crapstorm:

Second hook finished printing over night. Just put it in. It does the trick. Med pack is in the way of the rear view a bit, will probably move it or mount a smaller pack there. Now, on to the hex plate. Still waiting on the bolt/nut hardware to get here for that design, however.
