What would be a good price for a set of 265/70/17s

I see BFG makes a 275/70/17... thinking about trying to find a set of those.

I was quoted $920.00 for the 265s... I thought that was high.

Did you check tire rack? I always try to make the local shops match their prices.

Is that mounted and balanced? I got 4 285/75/16's mounted and balanced for $925 with new lug nuts (because I had bought new rims). You have to call around and tell them the old "well this (insert tire shop down the road) said they will do it for $875. ANY tire shop will negotiate prices. So even if one place says $900, call the next and say they quoted you $880. You will eventually find the lowest. Its worth the money to make some phone calls

If that's mounted and balanced, that's about market rate....say $210 per tire plus install fees...

I paid $900 installed for my 285 KM2s...about $300 out of pocket after I sold those 265s I got from somewhere :spy:

Caught good timing at my local ToMoCo dealership...buy 3 get 1 free sale...

You guys going with 285s... does that kill the MPG?

I used to care less about MPGs but with fuel prices going back up....

Yes that price was mounted and balanced with lifetime rotation.

It helps. So does moving to an MT. So does doing so on a lifted truck.

Any one of these items by itself is no big deal. Add them all together and it becomes a noticeable difference. My original plan was to decide on a regear after lifting and going to 33s. I can tell you, I'm leaning more and more towards 4.10s or 4.56s...

Yes but you can always do a little better than market rate

I lost about 3 MPG when I went from 265's to 285's. But I still get 20-21 mpg and for a truck thats not bad. I have the prerunner though and it comes with 4.10 gears already. For me its worth it for the extra off road performance

Not disputing that...just saying that quote is in the right range. It'd be one thing if they were hundreds of dollars off, but they're in the ballpark.

Most of us have to make do without a hookup ;)

I'd've been all over that though if I could.
