Sure we can, as well as making fun any numbskulls more deserving but in neither case does it strengthen any legitimate issues raised. Claiming “Ford is god” is as equally absurd as bequeathing the title on Musk. No individual should be accorded that sort of blind deference or obedience but god sure as .... knows it happens. That particular argument falls spectacularly flat. I’ve never personally met him and not likely to nor do I think we’d hit it off as drinking buddies if we did but I have to give the man the credit he deserves though if nothing else. No individual since Delorean has done nearly as well to pry open this particular market for his company and he has far surpassed that bar. No, Tesla cannot compete on any significant scale and may never do so but it hardly matters since what he has done is pry open the door to ev again and forced those mega corps to take a good long look through it. I look forward to seeing what comes of it.

I think Musk would be a riot to drink with. And the day Toyota release something resembling a EV or hybrid Tacoma with a rot resistant frame my turd gen is going up for sale.

I don't think Ford Gm, any of them, offer hybrid/EVs today if not for Musk. He doesn't need perfect panel alignment to get my respect, where were Ford Gm Toyota after 20 years?

A few were around but it needed more development and a lot less newness. The cyber truck is butt ugly but that has to be 1st gen cardboard cutout. It’s so devoid of any styling at all that it suggests it’s done purposely to give more time to design something more... anything. The Honda ev was Pacer/Pinto ugly. Batteries have been steadily improving but what’s coming should be good for more pronounced steps or possibly quantum jumps.

The Cybertruck preorders are based on what was shown and announced. There has been some talk about minor refinements but ZERO talk of a complete redesign.

    No.

The only competition for Tesla will be China and their EVs which ARE actually going to be cheaper.

F150ev. $90k for less everything .... okayyy here comes the “competition”

audi e tron 70k , slower , less range , no self driving

new Hyundai, more expensive than model Y and zero to 60 same as mini van

    leaf/bolt/i3 all golf carts

Hybrids (rave4 ...). Slower , less features and still have to change the oil and flush the transmission like a donkey

it is undisputed that Tesla makes ugly vehicles. No one is disputing the better looking /more familiar looks of the competition. But that’s all they have. Looks .... expensive junk with less everything.

Do you realize how suspicious it looks when all the promos for your Ev have to be paid for ! What is this the 1950s. “Mehhhhh yea trust they guys tellin ya it’s good , who’s getting paid by the guy who stands to gain every thing”

y’all need to listen to crazy people on the internet like me , who are not getting paid . Just brain washed ...

Oh dang I forgot the mach e:

uhh pizza cutter tires ? Also has a fat ass body lift cuz the Ford engineers didn’t know they had to take battery location into account. What a joke .

I’d buy it just for the fact there are no differentials . No lockers needed , tank turn. On less BS part to fail. Obviously it’s an EV so regearing is pointless (have fun posting in 5.29 gear threads after you just spent 4000 bucks on ur Tacoma just to get it to drive correctly, dumb ICE truck)

Oh that reminds me. Don’t you guys remember how paranoid TW made you when you read through all the “factory auto transmission fluid not filled all the way “. “ no dip stick “. “Transmission shifting update “. “Manual engine update “. Bleh bleh bahhhh. All headaches. All gone with ev. Apparently your biggest worry is door handles ? K

I’m merely suggesting it may not look that way in the future. The first gen Prius looked like and possibly was a domestic Japanese sedan. The T100 was likewise just a boilerplate “truck”. 200SX got an immediate redesign. It’s not uncommon. Maybe they are serious about the design but I hope not. Vehicles tend to blend current design elements into future models to preserve recognition while also generating new interest but the cyber truck looks like skid plates gone wild.

$90k is for the top trim f150. You can spend that much and more today for the ice equivalent. The $39k model is what is going to move for fleet sales and should still include that sweet fed tax break that musk is running low on.
Etron and others get ragged on for advertising realistic range where as Tesla has been caught advertising fantasy numbers.

the 39k model is still not compatible to the 39k cyber crap . Less range , less power , less tech. Maybe more storage and looks.
My point it the competition always stays afloat or wins because they win cost ! Android, cheaper than iPhone. Ranger , cheaper than Tacoma. These imitation EVs , more expensive!? What why ? How ?

The cyber crap only exists as renderings and prototype that rolled on stage. I love to shit on ford too but they do know how to actually build a truck.

When cybercrap production supposedly starts they will be crapping out the tri motor model first. Anyone expecting a $39k model might as well put a solar roof order in because that might come faster. At a drastically higher price.

I like that Rivian has an option to add an optional battery pack in the bed for people who want to tow... sure, it's an extra $10K, but that's the price for piece of mind in terms of range anxiety and many people will pay.

It is indeed a fugly design for the entire front end... Now the Nikola is a good-looking truck, but the company is probably not going to survive long enough to ever see production.

I don't know what they were thinking with those headlights? They just look Goofy, why not round or square? It might not be the deal breaker, but with the short bed, two strikes might be all it takes.

Ah, seems only 3 states got them and they were discontinued because GM felt they wouldn't make them any money.
