It comes with a 330 dollar sub. So your really only paying 400 for a stealthbox. Usually they cost more than that. Its not a terrible deal.

@toyotahenry - which box you asking about? I'm trying to figure out what I am going to do in my 2021 Limited. I am leaning toward one JL Audio 13TW5 behind the rear passenger seat. I found a local guy that does fabrication so hopefully it almost looks factory. As others have mentioned on here, the JBL 'premium' system is far from that. I will be running Memphis Audio 6X9 components in front and Memphis Audio 6.5 coaxials in the rear doors. Sound Skins sound deadener all around. Waiting on update for the Rockford Fosgate DSR1, which they say is in the works. Getting inpatient and these manufacturers are making it harder to do upgrades we used to always do.

Yea... I tried a few different behind the rear seat configs and none of them even came close to producing enough low end. Think I have a problem...

This is what I ended up with and it's perfect, other than the amount of room it takes up.

I saw this on YouTube. Cleanest box install in a Tacoma I have seen. They laser measured the back and it covers up everything perfectly.

Man, those sure do look badass. The main problem I have with them though is usually these boxes aren't ported, which really diminishes the overall low end output. Also, they use shallow mount subs, which are not able to handle the kind of power a normal sub can.

You can do a single or duals also. The 3 10s would be tight. Those are JL Audio 10TWs and each can handle up to 400 watts each so not that bad for a woofer with a 3 1/4 mounting depth. They hit hard too and JL has box specs for a ported box. Now I did call them and it's pricey but it looks factory so you get what you pay for in most cases. I will probably have a fiberglass box built for one 13TW5. It can handle up to 600 watts, with a mounting depth of only 2 5/8.

Those are for 2011-2015 double cab tacomas I believe. JL Audio has that on their site (it's a Stealthbox) and I think it just went up to a little over a grand for that. It has 2 TW1 10 inch woofers. I talked to JL and they said there are some differences in the 3rd gen where that wouldn't fit. I imagine it has to be the plastic on the back wall or something about the back wall but can't say for sure.

That's the idea I want to use to build a box for a 13TW5 in my 2021. I believe there's enough air space with a custom built box. I think.

I think they'd look great in a show truck, but aren't quite enough for daily music. 10s never did sound that great to me. The best setup I ever had was with a 15 on a 5,000 RMS Digital Designs amp. That sub sounded amazing and really musical. But I've been really happy with 12s too. Just gotta give a beefy 12 or a 15 tons of power in a ported box and they sound great. My current 12 is seeing 2,500rms and you really feel it in the seats.

A 13TW5 in a ported box should be pretty solid.

JL Audio does not recommend putting the 13TW5 in a ported enclosure. Sealed only. I think one in a sealed box pushing 500 watts should be more than sufficient. I have the factory 8" JBL now and it isn't bad at times but only up from here.

    HTown,

Please send me info on that amp and rack. Just got a Stealth Box and want to to the taco tune route. Part numbers would be great.

    Nice build.

I don't remember the part numbers, but just go the taco tunes website and you will find the plug & play amp, wire harness and amp rack.

Thanks, just ordered both harness. I will use a LC7i and a JL 300/1 amp for the sub and an old Alpine KTP-455 for the door speakers. Thanks for the reply.

I used to have a 2012 Tacoma with the JBL system. It was nice, but the stealth box with the taco tunes set up is way better. I'm sure you won't be disappointed with your set up and the stealth box.

What I made. Wanted to keep the cubbie too, but realized it just wasn't worth it.

Well, I finally got my system installed. Very pleased with how it turned out. I have the Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX that replaced the factory head unit (had the JBL system from the factory). The whole system has been replaced. I am running Memphis Audio 6X9 components in the door and 6 1/2s in the rear (both are carbon fiber cones- M Class series). The tweeters are a bit harsh at times but I have lots of control via an iData DSR1 (using it in general mode and not vehicle specific mode), which gives me an equalizer and DSP plus some nice controls to punch up the subwoofer a bit more. I have a single JL Audio 13TW5 and all speakers are powered by a Memphis Audio Viv900.5 5 channel amp. Gains are only at about half and it's WAY louder than the factory and sounds very clean. I will post links to the 3 videos (eventually) that the guy that did the work created. He did amazing work and it looks factory behind the back seat.

Now that I have done this change, I am already thinking of what I may want to upgrade already. I am looking at the BLAM separates for the doors so I guess I may have opened pandoras box. I may not change but you never know. LOL

You got this to fit a Gen 3? Crutchfield says it won’t fit my 2020

Crutchfield is correct. There is a slight difference after 2015 so you could get the single 10" stealthbox that fits the 2016 and up models. If you want something like that (the dual 10s), you would need a custom build or just go buy a box for 2 10"s (taking mounting depth into consideration). I went with a custom build and 1 JL Audio 13TW5 and it hits hard. Like you would have no idea that it's a single woofer that has a 2 5/8 mounting depth.IMG_20220128_195210.jpg
