I agree. And if it does, then so be it. The Pens play right into NYI's hands though. I doubt Boston will.

So I'm all in for either Jets or Leafs to go all the way. Would be great if 1 of those teams can. If not, then I will just enjoy the hockey without rooting for anyone in particular as I am indifferent to the other remaining teams lol.

And much of that disparity between shots and goals has to do with from where the shots come. Crashing the net or shooting within or near the blue paint greatly increases your chances to score, especially in the playoffs, which is what the isles do. Still, they will have their hands full with the Bruins, who have size and skill.

You are 100% right. But I saw people arguing that we won the battle on "high danger shots" but that still means nothing. The eye can see we have no real presence around the net and a lot of our shots, even if they are in "high danger areas" are not accurately placed. A lot of the Isles goals (especially early on) were top corner bar-down. That was when I was giving Jarry a pass on a few of those. I didn't see the Pens sniping like that with all of the chances we were given. I bet Hex looks for a net-front guy this offseason. And it may also be time to consider a goalie. It will be interesting.

 

Like Reaves? LOL. If Hextall does go that way, somebody better have a talk with Sullivan to use him.

 

I wasn't really think Reaves or someone for fighting, really. More just a gritty guy with a little bit of size to make it work in those battle areas. Doesn't have to be a big name but someone that can make plays around the net.

 

The only way I see one additional player, especially one who isn't accomplished as of yet in scoring, making a difference would be on the power play. Look at Brandon Tanev. He has 18 goals in 100 games as a Pen. Not bad for a 4th line guy. One guy in 5 on 5 play isn't enough. We know that scoring isn't even really his primary benefit either. Maybe Reaves isn't the exact answer: has only 18 goals over his last 188. I just mentioned him because he is the kind of player you probably want but Sulli wouldn't use him. But it's not just goals for that player you want. it's disrupting the goalie and putting some fear in the other teams players.

 

Ya, I mean Tanev is a great addition to this team and I thought he had a good year and a good series. Look at the impact Carter had as well. Those 2 guys play a harder game. And I'm thinking of an addition that may not directly result in points/goals but like you said, annoy the goalie or make defensemen have to pay attention to, and let them create space for the other guys. Sort of like what Horqvuist was, as a good example. 1 player may not seem like a big deal but I still think if you had that guy and could get him on Sid's line not even all of the time, but if they aren't creating enough, then it get's things going, maybe. Or maybe you get that 1 more goal you need, that could've made a difference in those overtime games.

 

I think the team missed Horny. He was that net front presence. I can understand the trade. He is getting up in years and his playing style made him prone to extended periods of injuries.

 

Ya, just a guy like that. I understood the trade too but I think a guy like that could help. But it did seem like he had a good year in FL.

I think neither one of us gonna get cocky about these two teams playing, should be good! But what’s up with a 9:30 game here on the east coast? National TV just doesn’t respect these teams

 

Oh now this is interesting lol.

 

Montreal blows lead and now it’s gone to OT. Canes Predators game delayed, the 9:30 start time was bullshit in the first place when Leafs had a 3-1 lead over Montreal going in, games should have started at 6pm and the Canes Preds game first, 3-2 with the last three games going to OT.
Update: canes Preds games not delayed it’s showing on Bally sports south. NBCSN said game was delayed but that’s only on that slack national network I watch it on Bally anyway.
