Its nothing special. Just a 240V plug next to my meter and a really crude mechanical device that keeps the meter feed and gen feed from being turned on at the same time. Highly recommend Honda gens, though. Mine can be loaded up and you can still have a conversation standing right next to it.

My hood. Watch for my cement DCLB with a backrack. I am sure we will pass each other sooner or later. :)

Sounds legit, code and power company want to see a disconnect like that , no way to feed back to the grid , safety #1. Mine on the other hand is similar to urs but I have to kill the main before I connect generator, I dont have the mechanical interlock. Feed the panel with this outlet. 20210526_163206.jpg

Also ur right on with that honda generator, been looking at new and used and boy do they hold there value. I have an older Coleman that has no idle down control, loud and hard to start ...... but it was a barter on a side job years back. Some day I'll upgrade. Knock on wood we don't loose power here all that often. Good luck and hope u loose power lol.

I have been using Kasa for my home automation in general. I have 6 indoor/ outdoor cameras plus about a dozen lights throughout the house all run off the their software. Video quality is pretty good and really convenient to have it all integrated so that I can automate lights, motion sensing, alarms etc all from one place.

I had an outside hookup as well. Disconnect from the street inside. The problem was that when I lose power, we flood...and I am never home to connect and fire-up the generator. I did the "dash home" thing for about a year before I pulled the trigger on a house generator that autostarts. We lose power all the time.

I have a similar setup to plug in my 9000kw Rigid Generator in the event of power outage. I learned my lesson after Hurricane Sandy and being without juice for 5 days. :(

Any one on here or know of someone able to diagnose and repair a warn wireless remote? Apparently it has a parasitic draw designed into them and it kills the battery. Im on my second remote and 4th battery. Right now this winch is just a $2000.00 dollar boat anchor. Yes, I contacted Warn customer service and they asked me if I left the winch switch turn on. I said NO, and never heard back from them.:frusty:

Well with a known problem like that i would tie the winch power into a ignition relay. The winch would only have power when the ignition is on, so it would be dead when ignition is off and no chance of any current draw. Make sense ?

No power outage yesterday, but I still run the house off the gen once a month for about an hour. I had a hand me down 7.5kW generac that was in great shape with about 20 hours when it stopped producing voltage. The idle down also didn't work. It was a $600 or so costco/lowes etc special. It ran well but was loud as sin. We had an outage that lasted a couple days and I wound up running our fridge and freezer off my work truck which has a 2kW inverter. Couldn't run the well pump, though, so no water. The Honda was big $ but we sleep well knowing we will have water pressure and can save the $1000-1500 of food we have in our freezers. Az for the interlock, it is caveman simple-

Yes, but I should have more clear about witch battery I'm replacing. Not the truck battery, the wireless remote battery. sorry about that.

    Good morning fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians!!

This is our 2d Gen system . The first was an Onan that we had put in when we built in 2004. It started automatically and switched over when we lost power and powered the important parts of the house. Lasted for 15 years with a Honda engine.

The new B&S also starts/switches automatically. It was a much simpler install and didn't require a separate transfer panel like the Onan did. And, it is monitored wirelessly by our local installer in case it fails to start. Powers the entire house.

Both systems ran/run off propane and are fed by the 1000 gal tank we have buried in the yard.
