Bilstein 6112

I have almost exactly what you have .....only difference is I have JBA UCA's and it is a 2013. I have never had that happen to me in the past 3 years actually....I really don't speed though.

 

I actually remember seeing your truck on here and getting some inspiration for this lift. Love your setup. Good to know that does not happen to you. I'm going to try a re-set of the VSC system (and taking curvy roads slower) and hopefully it goes away. It happens relatively randomly, and has only happened about 4 times.

 

Just ordered my Bilstein 6112 / 5160 combo for my first big upgrade on the 2017 DCSB. I have been through about 60 pages of this thread and haven't found what I am looking for just yet, but I will continue reading. In the meantime, have any of y'all ran the 6112s at 3/2 clip setting with stock leafs? If so, please post pics and share any info about how it rides. Thanks!

 

Here is mine on 3/4, 5160s in rear w/ stock leafs. Pretty much dead level. I gained 1” on each side. I do like the ride much better, I didn’t like how bouncy the stock Off-Road suspension was. These take a hit smoothly and regain composure very quickly, less roll on turns, and the nose doesn’t dive while breaking which used drive me nuts. I just had mine installed 2 weeks ago, but I am very happy. I haven’t been off-road yet, but I have purposely hit potholes and rough road and it handles it with much more confidence than stock.

With that being said, I have a Wheelers 3 leaf AAL that I will probably add at some point and bump up to 4/5 when I decide to upgrade to 285s. I do prefer some rake to the truck so hope to regain that when I make the change to the AAL and 4/5 clips.

 

That looks great! Are those tires 265/70r17? I went with 3/2 to hopefully regain my factory rake after adding sliders... All in hopes of clearing 265/75r16 with absolutely no rubbing.

 

Yes, 265/70/17 w/ -10 offset. I think you will sit great w/ 2/3 and retain some rake. I had a very slight rub on full lock when backing out of my driveway and other random times. That has been completely eliminated now. Can’t make it rub if I tried. If I was smart I would leave it like it is but I have an issue with always wanting to mess with shit!

 

running 6112 on 3rd setting on both sides with coils that come with the shocks(i think they are 600lb). sitting around 2.5ish lift with a 55lb tubular front bumper. kyb strut mount and spacer for taco lean, no sway bar with spindle gusset. jba uca with 2 spacers that dont fill the gap completely so they rattle... need to get a bigger spacer or just live with it.

Love it! Installing the same this weekend. Question.. why no brake dust covers? Is it due to clearance with the gusseted spindles? I just got V8 4Runner dust covers for my big brake rotors to clear. Be funny and frustrating if they are spare parts already.

 

I've been tempted to have my 6112's adjusted from the 6th/5th perch to the 5th/4th. Hoping to have that done whenever I get around to swapping out the needle bearing for the ECGS clamshell.
Using the 600lb springs they came with and without any additional weight up front, I feel like I can feel every crack in the road. I'm on SL rated Wildpeaks at around 35 psi too so I can't even imagine what it would be like on some E rated KO2's, lol.
Not to say I'm not stoked about the 6112's compared to the stock TRD OR coilovers.
Those felt like I was driving on a trampolene and that brake dive tho... Ooof.
I'm just hoping that by adjusting the 6112's I can soften things up in the front a bit.

Anyone have any insight to the difference in feels going from 6/5 to 5/4? I'm okay with taking down the height as I plan on sticking with 265/75/16's

When it comes down to it, the less that you preload the spring the more comfortable the ride will be. I currently have mine running on 2/1 set with 265/70/17 wildpeaks @32psi and love the ride. There are lots of railroad crossings in my area, driving over those at 30mph now the cab barely moves. The shock and spring are able to do their job easier.

Yes, very fast and while I was online browsing their site they even sent me a coupon.
And of course I start freaking out when I start inspecting them because the numbers on the shocks don't match the part# that you order by.

took them off just to see how they look tbh. Maybe better rotor cooling? I've only had them off for a couple of days so I can't really say yet. I Will probably put them back on bc I think they are a little exposed to small rocks that kick up when offroading

 

Do you have pics of your 2/3 setup. I just ordered a set that come pre assembled at 2/3 and want to be sure I can clear 275/70/17 on 17x8 TRD PRO FN wheels.

 

Anyone running a steel bumper w winch and sliders on 600lb springs? I want 650s but I’ve got a line on a brand new pair with 600lb springs.

 

I would get the 650 if your planning on weight

 

It can be done but it will lower the ride height about 3/4". I had my 6112's with 600's installed first. then I put on my bumper, and skid plate trio. it went down about 3/4" after it was already settled. I added the 650lb springs and it went right back up to the original height before the weight. I just added a smittybilt winch and it didn't effect the height at all. I would suggest the 650lb springs if it is a full size bumper but I would not go all the way up to the highest notch. I would start on the fourth notch so you won't have a hugely harsh ride without anymore weight since you have a 2nd gen.

 

I'm not sure how the 2nd and 3rd gens compare. I have steel SSO hybrid bumper, synthetic winch, steel skid trio, and sliders and I'm running the 650# coils on the 6/5 setting. Ride is enjoyable and gave me ~2" of lift over stock.
