Sprung for the Skycamp Mini. Worked well last weekend in the Olympics - mild wind, stayed cool in sun. Regrettably, not much room to store the bedding. Even an extra 1/2" of clearance on the inside would've made it better. Agree with what's been said about storing bedding in the tent. Not many options for a bed-sized, hart-top tent though.

While the newer gen mattresses were ok, still going to upgrade the mattress. REI sold out of their Exped Duos during anniversary sale, but Backcountry has them for 25%, no coupon needed: . Hope this info helps someone.

    Ok so my next conundrum.
My cap rack is actually slightly lower than the rack on my cab. Maybe 1/4", probably less. Which is good because I actually did my measuring from the cab because my current tent completely takes up the cap rack so I'll have slightly more clearance. However, it will create an uneven surface between the two racks. I know obviously not to affix the tent to both, but the uneven surface is confusing. However, even if they were both perfectly level, I still think that would not be ideal because as the bed flexes the cab rack would push up on the tent and I'd want some space between the two.

I guess I've got a few options. I could raise the tent using the mounting feet (not ideal), or I could cut the cab rack after the middle mounting point essentially making it into the Habitat rack they make like this one. Is there any other options I'm not thinking of?

My buddy with the falcon and low pro mounting feet says he has about an inch between rtt and cab rack and they don’t hit, just as a data point.

And an inch is gotta be enough right? If it’s enough for him it’ll be enough for me. I figure that’ll be my plan A and cutting will be the last resort.
Definitely a bad idea to have it resting on there even if not attached right?

Yeah you definitely want some gap, I wouldn’t go less than 1”. The cab and bed move separate from one another a surprising amount.

Yeah I know how much it can flex. Can you ask him if he know's if he has the 1" or the super low profile .5" feet? I'm pretty sure when I was on this page last year the .5" didn't exist so I want to say he has the 1" ones?

How does it mount to the cap rack? I have the front runner quick release mounts that bring it up a little. I love them.

I have the 56". While it does overhang my bed rack. Its the width of the bed and perfect for hanging a small awning over the rear.
Sometimes, I do think to myself its a bit wonky. It is what it is though.
Havent been on any really offroading trails. Hopefully soonish when I can get some time off. Otherwise decent size for two people. I keep 2 sleeping bags, 2 blankets and the ladder in it.

It’s going on a Prinsu rack. They sell these feet to mount the tent to the rails which should also give me the gap between the front and rear racks that I need.

    https://prinsudesignstudio.com/prod...id_42=17217&bundle_attribute_size_42=1/2+inch

That looks really good actually! I think as far as looks are concerned that size isn’t a bad call. I still I made the right decision considering how tight the trails I go down are. If I lived out west and wheeled trails with no trees or didn’t wheel tight trails then I think I’d probably have gone with the 56”. Can’t wait to change the go/no-go gauge on my CB antenna for knowing if I’ll clear downed trees that overhang a trail. Bottom mark is the items on my rack for when I go without my tent and the top line is the height of the tent.

Finally ordered an Exped megamat duo based on a lot of positive reviews around here and elsewhere - I cant decide if I'll replace the 1.5" memory foam topper or add the Exped on top, so I'll have to experiment a bit. The memory foam was a big upgrade over the standard mattress, but I'm hoping the exped will be that much more comfortable especially since I'm a side sleeper.

I currently have exped + 1.5" topper on top of that and it's quite nice and still packs down easily. That's what I'd recommend.

    Not much stock left.
I realize this seems like an obvious answer, but just want to make sure I'm not missing something. Since the Exped mat is inflatable there shouldn't be a problem if the mat is 3.9" thick when inflated, but the place your putting it is only 3" thick. I assume you just let the air out, leave the mat in place, then close up the tent, right?

Yeah exactly. I pop the deflate tab out and let some of the air out, and then fold the tent in half. I slowly press down and it pushes all the air out. When the pad is deflated, it’s maybe 1/2” thick at most?
