    Hey Everone!

So my suspension is beyond worn, so I'm looking at getting a new suspension. I've seen a couple lightly used TRD Pro shocks on tacomaworld, and even found a couple on my local craigslist. I'm thinking about doing the swap, as I'd love a good upgrade!

I'm wondering what is required to throw these guys on a gen 2? From what I've read, it seems like it'll add 2" or so of lift. Does this require any supporting equipment (Brake spacer, add a leaf, etc)?

PS to anyone running this setup: Are you running a swaybar? I don't do a lot of hardcore offroading, so I don't need the improved articulation, but I do mob down a lot of dirt roads in pretty rough shape, and have heard that removing the swaybar helps a lot in that department.

    Thanks in advance!

Are they just the shocks or coilovers? Shocks alone won't give you any lift. 3rd gen coilovers will give you 1" in the front on a 2nd gen. For the rear you will need to add leaf springs, replace the whole pack, or use a block.

Welcome to Tacoma World. There is a ton of information on here, the search bar is your friend.

I got lightly used 2015 trd pro bilsteins for my truck, not installed yet but I think it should just be a simple swap.

The kits I've been looking at are full coilovers. I've seen kits with both rear leafpacks and just the front coilovers/rear shocks.

Does the fox TRD Pro give more lift, or is it the 1". I'm not looking to lift it, I'd prefer to stay stock, but I would accept a small lift if the ride was improved.

The TRD Pro suspension 'kit' for the 2nd gen Tacoma came with a rear brake line spacer, otherwise it's a plug-n-play installation of the front shock assemblies (shocks, coils, upper mounts) and rear shocks with no other modifications necessary [if you want it as the factory intended]. It raises the front 1.75" over a non-Pro Tacoma, and does not lift the rear.

I have this kit on my '05, bought it new right before they sold out a couple years back. I've since upgraded the front coils to 650lb springs (from the stock 600) to account for my US Offroad winch setup and AP armor. Also running Dakar rear leaf springs. I still have a front swaybar.

Is it the same for the 3rd gen?

I've no first-hand experience with the 3rd gen Pro (Fox) kits, so cannot comment on it.

    I’ll chime in.

I had the 3rd Gen Pro Fox suspension installed on my 2nd Gen. From center of hub to bottom of fender, I netted 21” driver’s and 21 1/4” passenger’s.

Was it a simple swap, or did you need to do anything like the brake bracket, or new control arms?

I already had Icon Tubular UCA’s installed prior to it, but new UCA’s are not needed. However, they do allow up to 1” more downtravel. My Baja already came with the brake bracket/spacer for the rear so it was no concern, but I already had extended steel braided brake lines installed due to having an aftermarket leaf pack.

One thing you do need is that little brake line bracket that attaches to the leaf pack to avoid the brake line rubbing the rear piggyback reservoir:

Yeah man all good! Since you’re looking to improve the ride over a lift, you’ll be happy with the setup. The Fox’s rode beautifully!

Out of curiosity, are you running a front swaybar?
