I think it has something to do with the magnetic grey paint blending into the color of the pavement. Always happens to me after the truck is detailed. Several near misses, but thankfully no casualties.

    Howdy, Charlie,

I’m not about to read through 40000+ posts, so thanks for taking the time to summarize in the first couple comments. Came here for the “Aspergers” in the title.

+ ∞. I think it also makes it harder for high functioning individuals to get a diagnosis.

My wife and I still refer to me as a proud/“free range” Aspie.

I’m in a similar boat, that few people unfamiliar with Autism would ever suspect I was neurologically different.

One common trait that I believe was mentioned in the DSM 4 for Aspergers was an above average IQ. I don’t bring it up to brag, since I don’t think anything we’re born with is worthy of bragging rights. Just as an observation of why I think many people overlook Aspies as individuals who may need additional help to function in the “real world”. (“He’s so smart, why is he having such a hard time? He just needs to learn some discipline... or maybe it’s ADD?” has been a common refrain throughout my lifetime)

I sure wish I had gotten a diagnosis in my childhood, instead of figuring it out after several inexplicably difficult years of marriage. We still have our rough spots, but things have gotten so much better with understanding.

Anyways, to introduce myself a bit:

I’m 33, live in VT, and I wash stuff for a living (windows and siding, mostly). I like building stuff, and customizing practically everything I own to better suit my needs.

I have a penchant for memorizing numbers and problem solving. I’m highly disorganized, and am a natural hoarder. Anything that requires routine maintenance or consistent upkeep is a challenge.

It’s nice to meet you :)

Charlie, I think you'd really like this guy's Flickr albums, lots of professionally archived automotive advertisements and photography.

Currently home with a fever; Don’t worry, it’s not COVID. I got tested just to be sure and it came back negative; I’m also fully vaccinated, but I’m still pissed because I can’t go to work or do DoorDash...

    :annoyed:

My head is throbbing, but I’m otherwise fine; I was literally fine and this bug came out of nowhere. I did DoorDash for a couple hours after work and I started feeling shittier and shittier on the drive home, but I still decided to work out with my dad when I got home; As I ran on the elliptical, I started feeling ever shittier. I went upstairs and went to sleep, and when I woke up I felt even shittier! My mom took my temperature and it was 99; As I said before, I’ve been vaccinated and it was not COVID, but this really throws a wrench into my plans!

Sometimes life throws you curveballs, some acetaminophen (if you can have it) and a little brainless TV is usually good to take the edge off
