I relocated my knock sensors to outside of the engine valley and switched to the gm sensors. It seems to push more timing now. I do notice that when I'm driving hard my exhaust from the end of the header to the first cat will be glowing red from the fuel.

I’m having him setup two separate maps with a toggle switch to change maps on the fly.
    A regular tune map
And a high performance tune map on 100 octane just for fun

it’s glowing red because your EGTs are way too high.

Elevated EGTs are from too much timing being pulled and lean mixtures.

ive never experienced a glowing exhaust on my truck but it might be a good idea for you to get a EGT sensor and see what’s it’s running.

Ive been planning on doing that myself.

sounds like I need to finish installing my a/f sensor this weekend. I just welded the bung in for it last weekend.. It only does it when I push hard on the truck

I plan on the same thing for my truck. Normal map for with meth and a safe map when the aem cotroller grounds the safe thing, weather its low or has an error it will switch to my normal maps that I run right now. When I do that I will tune it in lambda so I can switch fuels and have the ecu still work.

Would a common temperature gun/ sensor work for that (cylinder to cylinder) or are they not quality enough to tell?

Yeahhhhh that is not supposed to happen. I would advise you not drive it in that condition for fear of doing long term damage. Sky high EGTs mean your mixture is too lean or the timing is off, or both.

You have an AFR Gauge to tell if your running lean?
If so what are those afr numbers

What are you guys running for intake gaskets? Im getting ready to swap out the knock sensors for GM sensors and need to pickup a gasket set before I pull it apart. Order OEM through the dealer? Felpro? Parts store mystery brand?

well I got the afr guage about 3 weeks ago. I got the bung welded in but everyweekend I get the chance to install it something happens where I cant. work/family flying in from texas/death in family....I'll let you guys know if your correct about it when I get it in. The Truck runs perfect. Had it supercharged for 2 years. It only happens when I rip it hard for a good period of time. The Jba headers don't glow its just the section right under the passenger seat where the headers meet the 2 cats. it goes about 10 inches of pipe after header flange to the first cat then about 1 foot between the 2 cats(the first cat gets orange and the foot of pipe before the 2nd gets super orange/red) then 2nd cat is fine.... I've had exhaust off 2 weeks ago the cat is not plugged can see light through it well.

I'm also snappin supercharger belts for some reason. From 5k- 10k miles. All pulleys line up and' Ive been buying good belts from napa. It happens when I'm on it hard so far in 2nd and 3rd gear pulls. All belts have snapped under load a few seconds into each pull. my guess is the clutch dumps out hard it weakens the belts. - its the stage 4 competition clutch from the urd website. the clutch makes it so fun to drive but it still drives nice around town I also have the lighter harmonic balancer

I don’t have a supercharger but thinking about getting one but have question regarding the “dual personality” that the stock ECU seems to have. My truck has always idled differently in the morning on my way to work than it does on my way home. My commute involves a fare amount of stop and go and in the morning it idles at 750 or so in drive and afternoon it’s around 500 and a little shaky. It’s very consistent and can’t think what it could be. Is what your talking about just a supercharger thing or it’s just how the ecu runs all the trucks?
    Thanks for any ideas.

500rpm is way too low of an idle. l think around 750 is correct* Sounds like you can clean or replace your IAC (Idle air control sensor)
