Apogee 3rd Gen Tacoma Rear Bumper Dual Swing Thread

I do intend on planning several road trips for picking parts up in person & installing in a parking lot somewhere. At this point it's basically to stop in each state for a different part. Make a sick road trip out of the whole endeavor; go camping with my pooches & wifey, see the sights, eat some good food.

- C4 in SD for hybrid front bumper
- upTOP in CO for roof rack, bed rack rack, scenePODs & random accessories
- CBI for rocksliders & skids in ID (or R4T in CO, or some other distributor along the way, or actually build the ones I drew up in CAD)
- Apogee in CA for rear dual swingout bumper
Other accessories like lights or a winch can be found locally or somewhere near each of these main locations.

My wallet can't handle that much action in a single trip, so I'm sure its gonna have to be broken into 2 or 3 separate trips.

 

I think my wife would love the weather, but our huskies and I would probably melt from the heat.
I'm pretty sure I should be living somewhere like Tuktoyaktuk.

Edit: I actually had no idea the temps in San Diego were so moderate. I just assumed it was scorching down there.

 

Currently no pre-order options. We can't justify taking people's money without having a production part ready.

 

Ok, then how much for a t-shirt and a pre-order on a dual swing out bumper. Kidding, that was kinda a joke

 

The only downside is you pay for the perfect weather and sunshine in taxes.

Best part is going to the beach in January and sending pics to all your friends up north.

Cold weather down here means you have to wear a long sleeve t-shirt with your flip flops and boardshorts......

I tried to "like" this post 1,000 times, but the forum only let me do it once. You're definitely not wrong.

 

Just a question, hope it hasn't been asked already. Is there any reason the dual swing outs have to be equal in size? Maybe a 60/40 would be more functional? I dunno, just thinking out loud while I sit here waiting on the fuel pump recall to be completed. 1.25 hours so far.

 

Oh don't get me started...this communist enclave of a state infuriates me to no end...though I will admit, living in the San Diego bubble isn't too terrible.

 

No better time to cruise the forums! Our original design was a 60/40 and we changed it to be mirrored for a few reasons. When the swing outs are mirrored, it ensures that no swing out is more rigid than the other, and it also allows us to make all of the mounts modular to be placed on either side. Some folks are picky about accessory placement.

 

50/50 works for me. I want tire on left and propane tank on right. Works better for my kitchen set up. But like everything else overland, that is subject to change,

 

Just wondering is you guys have a time frame Tyler for the release date?

Things have been halted lately from the lack of material and now manpower. We're just trying to make sure current customers are getting their orders in a timely fashion.

Once I get a date I'll post it back up here.

 

Hopefully it would be soon. That money sitting in my bank account is making me crazy!!!

Speaking of spending money, @Apogee Offroad, do you guys have any intention on designing rocksliders? I have no idea if I'll end up building the ones I designed... Thinking of taking the cowards way out.

 

We have em' designed! Just need a local guinea pig!

I've modified the frame mounts and updated other details since then, but don't have anything recent.
