Sliding rear window....what's the point?

for anyone who is interested im working on a full power sliding mod for my truck.....ill post a build when im done havent got it quite right yet but im getting there!!!

I always wrap a towel around the lumber so it is snug with the windshield (done it more times than I can count and have never had an issue).. It also keeps the dash from getting scratched up. But yeah, I could see that being an issue if you weren't prepared for it.

To be honest, no sliding rear window would be a deal breaker for me. Most lumber comes in 16 foot lengths.. It sits nicely on the dash, all of the way from the tailgate with the slider open.
