Oh shit, even the radiator?

Maybe this is a rig better left in stock form though.

 

Isn't the OEM radiator for 1st gens discontinued too? Thought I read about that somewhere on here.

 

I'll still be stupid enough to do it though.

60 pages of sadness, that said a lot of the aftermarket has stepped up and the community is good at making use of everything out there. But still some stuff is just straight up unobtanium now.

 

DMV's at the moment are a joke. 3 months out minimum is redonkculous.

That one is because the 80 series OEM rads were made by T-Rad, their company. Which has been retired.

 

Yeah I forget the name but maybe that was it, the company stopped manufacturing them or something like that. I guess the Denso one is next best thing for OE style replacement

 

I tried to order some manual hood supports
but even those have become discontinued. I'll probably make my own but still. You'd think as popular as it is id have more support.

 

Part of it is due to the reliability and longevity. Many of these vehicles never needed ANYTHING for 20+ years. In Toyotas cataloging system that equates to slow moving items that they deem ready for support drop. As long as a part remains in the A,B,C rings in the system it isn't in danger, it sells enough to indicate it needs to be stocked and produced. D and lower are always on the chopping block until they go NLA. Obviously items for which the original manufacturer stops support or goes tits up are dead too at the Toyota end. The don't chase down new manufacturers for vehicles this old.

It's too reliable I guess. 300K+ and still running strong. I've got three Toyota's that don't want to die.
