Are you raising the asking price on your truck now that we know the tires breed aliens?

For real. The second pic looks like the alien bursting out of that dude's abdomen.

    Any Nest doorbell users?

I'm looking at buying one but do not have a doorbell chime in my house. I've been reading online about compatible chimes but curious as to how they hook up to the Nest doorbell.

I'm at a point with construction where I can open up the drywall next to where the doorbell will be mounted, and there is an outlet nearby in that same wall. Wondering if I can plug in a chime into that outlet and somehow wire it to the doorbell.

    or

Is it just easier to use your phone as a chime? Or buy one of those Google mini home things that plug in to the outlet and live on a counter?

Also looking at getting Nest outdoor cameras. The hardwired kind.

Any help automating my house is appreciated :)

If you decide to go with a 16-24vac wall chime, the Nest will have a connector/adapter designed to power the Nest from the chime power source and ding-a-ling the chime from the Nest.
Otherwise go with the hardwire option for the Nest and have it chime your phone, laptop, smartwatch etc...

Truthfully I hate doorbell chimes. So if it just rings my phone, that's cool.

So I assume to two wires sticking out here will power the Nest doorbell just fine? This is what the old doorbell was hooked up to (and since removed in 2009, lol)

My doorbell transformer was so old it wouldn’t charge my ring. I had to install a new transformer...

    Normally Open.
No current carried thru the wires, just completing a circuit.
I just checked mine, it's lit, so 3 wires, two show 16vac, the third is a common to make it go dong dong.

Other than the random split streams that sometimes hits the shower glass or floor… Shfontzie is still all good.

we have a regular chime but I don’t think an audible chime is needed. We have everything hooked up to an Alexa device and have then scattered throughout the house. If I am in the basement or garage, the ring “chimes” through the Alexa. Or I get the alert on my phone.

I assume Nest is the same way. And I think this is the way I’m going to go.
