Well I removed the roof rack mounts for good, exposing the 4 half inch mounting holes. The well nuts/rivnuts were degraded quite a bit and coming apart so I just pulled them out. Probably wouldn't have lasted much longer anyway and made the rack come loose eventually. Gonna have to patch this baby up this weekend.

Just say no to drill on racks

Not sure. Maybe get better quality well nuts and put a flat head bolt in them. Or try my hand at bondo. The holes are small and on the roof so I'm not worried about it looking perfect but more than anything it can't leak.

Original plan was to leave the original well nuts on but they were in shitty shape

The PO had a bunch of kids. I think they poured chocolate syrup over everything. Then I found the red drink carpet stains like Hawaiian Punch. That Red food dye out to be outlawed.

Yeah I was thinking it would have to have a netting/mesh behind it like how you patch a hole in drywall.

Bondi won’t last very long there. Small holes like that the only proper fix is weld and grind then paint.

bindo will crack with the roof flexing

Yeah I was thinking about that. Just need to make sure they seal well with RTV or something. I could paint them to match

Just have someone weld the holes and do a quick color matched spray can job. It can look surprisingly good

I hadn't thought about that honestly. Does sound like it would be the best way to fix it permanently. Plugs would eventually need to be replaced or might leak over time.

I have a buddy out here that does fab work for members on here that could do it. Gonna shoot him a text, thanks for the idea

Same with my 4Runner. PO had is for 14 years and brought 2 little girls up in the truck. I don't think he ever cleaned the interior. Like ever. The last remaining grossness in it is the carpet. I'll do that eventually.

I don't think this particular temp fix would last more than a week tbh
