Curious as to why I wouldn't want a subwoofer in my truck or why I this might of changed my mind?

    a) The first thing I've done with any vehicle I've owned is take it apart and replaced all the audio components. Seeing as I bought this truck new the last thing I wanted to do was tear it apart and replace components and install a sub

    b) but, after seeing this install and how clean it looks I may have changed my mind about adding a sub

It’s a complex shape and I’m not taking it out to measure. It is the exact same dimension as the area behind the rear seats though.
They may have the dimension listed online.

I’ve had that amp for many years. It was the perfect shape and size for where I had it placed in my first car.
Also marine amps from JL Audio are powder coated, water proof, have better heat resistance, stainless steel hardware (even hidden inside). All the connections inside and out are a little beefier too. They are basically over designed car amps.
If all goes well I’ll probably still be using this amp 20 years from now lol

I had an OEM wiring interface from *********.com in my tundra and plan to do the same now in my Tacoma. Super easy plug and play from OEM head unit (in Tundra it was the factory amp). I did use their amps and for the power of what you run in a truck with smaller sealed sub enclosures it’s perfectly fine. I used all aftermarket speakers/subs.

The rest of the subs and tower speakers.

Do you think sound deadening the back behind the storage panels would make any difference in quality of sound?

I’m thinking about doing the stealthbox also... is it loud? I like to drive with the windows down when warm and want something that will still “hit” while driving on the highway

Had my stealthbox installed last night, powered by a JL Audio XD600/1 and I have to say my truck sounds so good
The bass is a nice complement to my Infinity reference door speakers and my Subaru tweeters, she bumps so well but the installer say to ease up on the subs due to the break in period on the 10TW3
Ya the stealthbox is pricey but the installer at Visions Electronics was going to charge $1000 CDN in just labor to fab up a fiberglass enclosure, so its a win win for the stealthbox.........and boy,she thumps:thumbsup:

why did you go with the xd600/1? the manual for the stealthbox says it recommends the xd300/1. are you not worried about blowing the sub? i’ve heard jl underrates their amp RMS power so i’d imagine that 600 is damn near maxing out the sub.

You don’t have to use the full power of the amp. I run a 600W amp but the level is only turned up to where the sub sounds best.

I know this is old but interested in this, I’m thinking of buying a 3 channel amp & running the fronts along with the sub. The Rear doors are fillers anyways you can’t really tell wether they’re on or off with you fade them at least I think so

I just did the Stealthbox with a Kenwood 5 channel amp. I saw no reason not to get a 5 over a 3 since my power limitation is the stock wiring.

I was thinking about possibly running new speaker wires into the doors. Sometimes there’s is to do that in the stock boot. Well at least there was on my 2002 F150 lol Got any pics of your amp mount location?

I ran wires in my STi since I had components...I'm still grumpy about the hours I spent doing that (even though the end results were great). Since I only have co-ax speakers I didn't bother with uprated wiring.
