I took my son out to the train museum in Perris, CA yesterday. This is a replica of a train utility truck that was common in train yards back in the day.
They built this from photo's and they had a photo that they used as reference for this build but I already heard the guy say "no picture taking".
They shoulda used some muriatic acid to give a little patina to the hardware on the bed and a distressed train logo like Santa Fe would look cool on the door.
I could see some hillbillies partying in the back and the nice thing is no DUI's

Reminds me of a ... "Flash Gordon - Dr Zarkov Spaceship Model" ... that was for sale on line ... same vintage too ...

Built for Hertz Rental Company to be rented out to anyone with the cash.

EDIT: My bad... as pointed out, the Hertz cars had an H. The KR was for "King of the Road"... which I pretty much thought applied to ALL Shelbys.

I haven’t dropped in here for a month or so. May as well drop in with a bang.

Spotted this the other day at a local car show. Many great cars but I didn’t have time to walk through and ogle. This one popped out at me from the street so I pulled off to check it out. Certainly worth the pull over.

A 1970 HEMI Roadrunner 4-Speed / Dana rear end. Numbers matching beast.












May I add a little side note memory of such a car. One of my best friends in high school late 1970’s to 1980 graduation. His dad had a 1969 Roadrunner that had a 440 6-Barrel [Six Pack]. He blew that motor up and he threw in a HEMI. It had a 4-Speed as well and dressed in yellow. It had the 6-Barrel lift off fiberglass flat black hood. He let his son [my buddy] drive it quite often. What a car to drive in high school. I’ll never forget going with him an hour drive to Denver for a concert in that thing. We pulled into a gas station to check the oil before the drive. It took both of us to lift off the hood. Immediately people started gathering around looking at this beast of a HEMI all chromed out. Such a badass car. Great memories as my friend passed away about 10 years ago. I can’t help but think of those times looking at this almost identical car.

...^^^... I sat in that exact ... same looking - Green Shelby GT500 KR ... in Koon's Ford showroom in the DC area. They had several on the floor back then.

They were really not selling that fast either ... mainly green Fastbacks and red convertibles IIRC.

They had a lot of cool cars on the showroom floor back then.

 

I could be wrong, but I believe that was the GT 350H...



It had the underrated '271 HP' solid-lifter 289 that would rev to the moon...
