Nice! I am planning on this too. My Dakar’s are getting old, and I figure when I get the 14 bolt axle in, the 63’s may hold up better.

 

Are you going Ford shock towers? That's the last thing I need to order.

 

I’ll be going in board on the shocks since I have the stock tire carrier out of the way. Less chance on rubbing on shock bodies and I can fit 2.5’s if need be.

 

oh yeah... Flatbed things. Much better set up to move them in I've heard. I was looking at gearing but think I want to eventually go 14 bolt as well so am holding off until then. How pricey is the rebuild for the axle doing it yourself?

 

Axles are anywhere from $500-1k.
-400-500 for brakes with disc brake conversion bracket
-gears $1000
-lockers 1500
-shave kit with cover is $500ish from Tmr
-may be doing a truss on mine 300isj
-misc brackets 100-200
Rebuild of seals and what not $200-300

not terrible but the expensive stuff is going be driveshaft modifications and getting the brakes/hubs machined for our bolt pattern.

Again you can do it cheaper. For instance find one with 3.73’s which I think exists. Then convert it to our lug pattern on the drums. From there it would just be the driveshaft.

check out van city’s build. He used a 14 bolt with his ifs before he SAs it.

 

Will do. Would like to be at 4.56 eventually but I do have a spare taco axle as well laying in the garage.... I gotta figure all this shit out someday

I won’t be frenching in either i think. As for hangers I am going to take a look at tmr. Local for me. Just not sure if they have the variety that ruff stuff has.
