Thanks! I know it was probably a dumb question but I found a take-off exhaust from a pro model on sale online and I wanted to make sure I was getting what everyone was talking about in this thread.

Yes, just make sure it has that nice chrome or black chrome tip welded on and says “TRD”. You’ll see the difference from stock.

I have 2017 Access cab manual, this exhaust fits perfectly. Believe it or not, I was getting drone with the stock exhaust at highway speeds. No drone with the Pro exhaust. Maybe it has something to do with the higher cruising rpm of the manual. Anyway, I have had the exhaust for about 3 years and the sound has not changed. It was worth it.

the new ones with the matte black tip claim to only fit 2019 and 2020 which I don’t believe.

That’s probably due to them being OEM for those model years. I believe 2017/18 pro exhausts were only available with traditional chrome tips. They’ll fit just fine.

Bumping some comments WAY back from the past. If you're still here...did your buddy figure out a way to clean up the black tips after the damage was done?

I am picking up a second-hand TRD exhaust (off of a stock PRO) with the black tip...apparently it's pretty worn and dulled. Trying to figure out if I should restore the black tip somehow, or just spraypaint it with hi-temp paint and be done with it.

I bought my 2020 Pro in September. The tip looks terrible already. Tried to clean it with Mothers wheel polish which always worked well on my Subaru Cobb cat back exhausts. Didn’t really even touch it on the TRD exhaust tip.

Anyone able to use something and clean it up again?
    Any before and after pics?

I came from the Subaru “scene” too:thumbsup:

Anyway, to answer your question, I bought an exhaust with a bad finish on the tip as noted above.

PO tried polishing it to no avail. I ended up sanding, priming, and painting with gloss black high-temp paint. Turned out alright for very little cost and work. I’ll see if I can find some pics of the final product.

Having said that, I may switch it up and try a different exhaust in case anyone on the east coast might want to buy this one!
