BRAND NEW SPORT OR OFFROAD...why?

How do you find the cheapest price? Like I don’t even know where to begin to look. I’ve looked local to me like within 100 miles but idk where to look other than that.

 

Sways a bit more than the Sport, but after the first couple weeks switching to the OR I forgot what the Sport was even like. OR drives more like a "truck" and the Sport is a bit more like a car in how it handles.

If you're ever up in Reno let me know and you can go drive my truck around and see how you like it.

Mine's a little dumpy in the ass end with the shell on it, but I'll fix that up with new rear springs. The rear factory springs just kinda suck no matter which model you get.

 

It's tough right now. New and used, the Tacomas are in really high demand. I bought my '20 last summer and I basically saw it hit the dealer page, called them, and bought it over the phone. They don't sit on the lot very long.

I paid full MSRP. There's no negotiating (at least in Reno). They know it'll sell to the next guy for full price, so that's what you pay.

I paid $45,427 for the OR long bed, with basically every factory option you can get. It was more than I wanted to spend, but I got the truck I actually wanted. I settled on my old sport and regretted it from the day I drove it home.

Edited my comment above. I paid $45k for mine fully loaded, and that was late summer of last year.

I don't know if you have a trade-in, but I got $30k for my '16 with 55k miles on it, and I had the wheels and tires swapped over from my sport to my OR since I'd just put new Duratracs on it.

 

no trade in. I’ll be going in just to buy a new truck.

 

Nice job! I especially like that you used high tensile tape to restrain the load. I respect how you don’t let the safety of others slow you down at all. Must have learned from from these pioneers....

 

I started out with the Costco price, they sent me to a local dealership who didn’t have the color I wanted so they offered me a lower price than the Costco price to get me to buy it. I took their price and contacted another dealership 3hours away that had the truck I wanted and told them I’d buy it if they could match the local dealership offer. I dealt with the internet sales office and it was a very simple transaction.

 

sport doesn’t have seat heaters? Off road does?

 

I wonder how many of the folks that buy the off road , actually ever leave the pavement .
The off road is a better deal , if you actually use as an off road vehicle .
For me , i rarely go off road . I do use my sport mt mostly as a daily driver , 70 % hwy 30 local
For me the on road performance of the sport is far superior than the soft nose diving suspension
Of the Off road model . You need to be honest with yourself as to what is your primary use
Of the vehicle , and decide accordingly . Both models are very capable trucks .

 

primary use would definitely be pavement use. I would use my first gen to off road.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression that the offroad typically holds a slightly higher resale. Drives nicer too but that means nothing if you plan to replace suspension components.

 

Oh cuz that used 2019 sport doesn’t look to me to have heated seats.

Just depends on the options package I think.

One big thing to consider as well, is as of 2020+ you get a power drivers seat. I hated the way I sat in my sport. Couldn't raise the seat and the damn hood scoop was always in my field of view.
