Hard acceleration causes power loss(coasting)

    Hi, I was hoping to not have to make a thread for this but I'm running out of ideas and the only issues I can find on the internet are similar but not the same.

    So, there are essentially 2 issues happening so I will describe them as though they are separate. The first one is that during a gradual acceleration I have very little power to me up to speed. Eventually, the pedal will hit the floor and I seem to barely be gaining speed. I know what you're thinking.... clogged cat. Well I removed the two upstream airflow sensors (one on either manifold) to see if that improved the performance and I can't say that I felt a noticeable difference in power with gradual acceleration.

    The second issue (that very well might be related to the first issue) is that on hard acceleration, normally my engine will down shift and raise the RPMs to produce more acceleration. Now, on hard acceleration, when the car is expected to downshift, it feels like the transmission disengages. The rpms will still go up to 3k. I'm not sure if the transmission fully disengages because I don't feel any deceleration at this time(~30mph on flat road) but it does at least feel like acc=0. As the rpms drop, the transmission will smoothly re-engage.

    A few important points to read through before making a suggestion:

    - this started all of a sudden and was running perfectly fine before a couple days ago.

    - there's no studder or jerking feeling

    - the codes that exist are p0031/37/51/57 and p0102. Which should point to all four o2 sensors and MAF. All of these have been replaced in the past week with DENSO products.

    - the transmission oil level is correct

    - the truck is not overheating or running hot

    - with o2 sensors plugged in, there's a normal amount of exhaust coming out of the muffler (just felt it with my hand)


    Unless anyone has a good idea of the issue, I will most likely start by replacing the throttle body then go to the fuel injectors if the problem isn't fixed then probably go to the catalytic converter

    I have managed to find my issue!!! It was a bad fuse in EFI2. Such a pain

    In my case, it was from when I installed aftermarket headlights and the fuse was tampered with and ended up having a loose connection. I guess technically the fuse wasn't bad, the connection was bad. But a blown fuse would've cause the same behavior.

    My advice from hours of research is to check your EFI fuses then replace your A/F heater relay (these are the quickest and easiest things to replace).

    One more thing I'll point out is this idea of Tacoma "limp mode". I didn't know this was a thing until after research. So, It's possible the behavior wasn't directly caused by the fuse but maybe it's such a critical component that it caused my truck to enter limp/safe mode (possibly). I would just keep this idea in the back of your head if you notice your symptoms aren't really related to the codes being thrown.
