I’m off tonight and just drove to my parents’ in NM but still checking in.

Pulled in to town after 1am and saw some fellow 3rd Gen lights headed my way. It was a Quicksand DCSB with a quirky setup; lifted, stock wheels and tires, Raptor grill LEDs and ditch lights (pointed straight forward).

We met up at a stop light and they tried to race me; I know this tiny town too well to drive with a lead-foot (city cops, sherrifs, state troopers and highway patrol all piled in one place). I hope they made it home safe.

Nice. I did 285/70/17 so I wouldn’t have to mess with CMC for a few years. When it’s time for new shoes I’ll probably go 315/70/17, regear, suspension lift, cmc and air lockers.

Welcome to the nightcrawlers. lol. I've been thing about a CMC myself before my next tire change, but I also found a really cool weld-on relocation kit a while back. cab stays untouched but the mount is moved further back on the frame with a much lower profile ear extending to the mount point.

This is what I mean when I say CMC since I’ll be chopping the cab mounts and replacing them. Is that wrong terminology?

I could be mistaken, but i believe the cab mount chop refers to just lopping off the bulky corner of the existing mount, that interferes with larger tires. and welding in a plate to close the resultant opening. The actual relocate is way better/cleaner imo

I’m a big fan of the new mounts. The corner chop looks sloppy and I have heard rumors that it “totals” your vehicle.

I've seen really clean chop jobs, and also some super hacky ones. It's a pretty complicated cut to get *just* right, and same goes for the welding to patch it up. Important to find someone really good to make it look nice, and not just Cleetus in his driveway with a grinder and stick welder lol.

I've heard those rumors too, I don't really put too much weight on em though. Something about the way the OEM mount is supposed to help direct the wheel downward/away from the cab in a nasty collision. But I haven't seen much evidence to substantiate that. I doubt most non-modding people would even know the difference if they stared right at it.

    Bone stock. Pls mod me.
It's been stop-and-start for us. Gets busy, then we get caught up and twiddle thumbs, then it gets busy again, repeat ad nauseum. 0530 can't come soon enough lol.

I currently have 33s and want a bigger size but, might end up keeping the 33s and going with a nice rear suspension upgrade. I’m really debating at this moment. Haha finally off my shift. Got hit hard, didn’t expect this much freight today..

Thanks man, yeah I’ve seen those too, I may just have to look into it more. Seems to be the right direction to go to.

We're the cool kids who keep the world turning while the normies get their beauty sleep lol. In the process of getting my cards paid off so I can finally upgrade my tired old suspension.
