OP. Can you share any more details about this? I have been trying to have toyota fix this for a couple years with several visits to the dealer and at least two visits by a FST. It still isn't fixed and now my truck is out of warranty. I am waiting for a call back from Corporate with two potential options.

    1: Buyback
    2: Out of warranty fix.

I have no faith that they will be able to fix this but at the same time I assume that their buyback offer will be something low and not the right choice financially. What did they base your buyback price on? Was the offer fair? Also, how do you start the process of arbitration?

    Thanks!

FYI this is an old-ish thread and OP was last seen on TW in July of last year.

It hardly matters since the problem isn't owned by the op, the topic is of mutal concern. It might be more effective to put a door on the top with an actuator tied to the inside door. It would keep the mice out too.

He specifically asked the OP questions. I figured it might help him to know OP isn't likely to respond.

All Gen 3s will leak as described under the right/wrong conditions, period...all of them. Its in the design, volume of water, angle of the water are all factors.

For Me it has been a pretty specific input condition to cause the leak. At my old place where I'd park my passenger side would be slightly elevated compared to the driver side. This would cause a leak. I also noticed it recently when parked where the two sides of the truck were parallel but the nose was at the top of a steep slope (Steep driveway). This also caused it to leak.

I haven't noticed it when the truck is parked on flat ground. The dealership confirmed they were able to recreate by jacking up the passenger side a bit.

This is why it took me so long to put it all together. For at least months I thought my wife was tracking snow/water into the truck and it was just settling in my rubber floormats. I didn't realize what was going on until I came home from a trip without driving the truck for at least a week and finding a puddle in the floormat.

I have a 2020 OR and have noticed the leak on the passenger side floor board on two separate occasions after taking it through an automatic car wash. From this thread, it appears this is a design flaw for 3G Tacoma’s. Guess I won’t be going to that car wash anymore….

I couldn't live with it. Toyota bought back the truck, I bought a Chevy Z71. Happy so far. If you need any advice on dealing with Toyota/lemon law, would be happy to provide.

Having this issue on a 2018 TRD OR. Sounds like it could be a variety of things. Mines a slow drip on the far right corner of the glove box passenger side. Happens every time it rains hard. Cowl?
