I just got around to wiring up an Eaton/Harrop locker after it was installed with a regear a few months back. The wiring is good, voltage tests are good but for the life of me I can’t hear anything or feel anything when I flip the switch. I’ve read that it’s just that quiet but coming from many years of clunky Toyota lockers I can’t conceptualize that the Eaton makes zero engagement sounds. I have turned tight circles on dirt to detect scrubbing but I’m not sold it’s actually engaged.

Anyone running this locker? What’s your experience?

Can you jack up the rear and engage it to see if it actually works by checking if both wheels spin? I have no clue but maybe an idea ‍♂️

Time for a 'bench test'. As @Sdemitriy said, jack up the rear, lock it, and see if it differentials or moves the drive shaft when spun.

Just driving it should be very obvious that it's locked. You'll hear and feel the tires scrubbing at the slightest turn.

Yes, I had the same concerns you did. They are quiet and you can not hear them engage.

I did this...it's easy and takes only a few minutes.

As above....spin unlocked = wheels spin opposite directions, locked they will spin the same direction and it gets much harder to rotate by hand.

I also did this...find somewhere you can drive slow (gravel or sand is better than pavement) and lock the rear end. As soon as you make even the slightest turn you can feel and hear the rear end.

Double check the wiring and battery connections. I checked the fuses and relays (hear the clicking when switched on) prior to permanently securing the wires.

Below is a video that I used to check the front end. I also did the slow drive test and once locked the front only really wants to go straight.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. The wire pins from the rear differential have been kind of tricky to get seated in the plug correctly but there is power.

Is there supposed to be any visual indication from the clear control module box? I haven’t heard any clicking from the relay.

I’ll jack up the rear and try to engage it.

I think I had to use some needle nose pliers to help seat the wire pins into the plug. Also make sure the wire pins go into the channel correctly. It's hard to see but they should go in one way.

What is the clear control module box? The relay should click (with everything electrical connected correctly) when the switch is turned on. Make sure to check the fuse too.

It turned out to be the wire pins in the plug, they weren’t pulled through far enough; needle nose pliers did the trick.

shocking how quiet these lockers are.
