Yes, you retain all the settings you had in your stock head unit.

not sure about the head unit doing those functions but I have used Carista app with the bt dongle to change all those settings, 7day trial is 10$ which is basically enough time to tweak settings. Of course if you want to go back after the fact you would need to use another email address to get another trial period.

I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro, no JBL. I like to get the Dasaita Android 10.0 PX6 10 inch head unit. One with 1280x720 resolution.

I can’t find that unit on Amazon that’s compatible with 2016-2019 Tacoma, only ones I found are the older 9 inch models. Anyone have a link to the newer px6 10 inch that’s plug and play for 2017 Tacoma?

Curious to see if the 10.0 would fit stock location w/o modification... 9" H/U looks like it fits perfectly

I have the JBL package, but i'm about to gut and replace the entire sound system. Will I still need the CANbus option with this deck for the steering wheel controls?

Most of these units have a canbus adapter to retain steering wheel controls. Be sure to get the unit for your model year. I have used both the PX5 and PX6 units from Dasitia and they provided all required connectors with exception of my GPS antenna adapter (they provided a stand alone GPS antenna) to use the factory antenna.

Sorry I’m new to all this android based H/U stuff. Is PX5/PX6 basically the operating software for these units?

    Thanks

PX5/PX6 refers to the underlying chipset that Android runs on. The PX6 has the carplay interface built in and uses a default android application to support the hardware. The PX6 also contains a digital signal processor which will yield better sound quality for audio playback with finer sound controls to optimize the sound the way you prefer.

Dasitia refers to their head units by the chipset.

Thanks for the reply, but i'm still unclear on this. Is the CANbus adapter for anything besides the steering wheel controls? I won't have any JBL system components downstream of the head unit when I install the Dasaita, so I want to make sure I get the correct configuration.

Assuming that you have a 2011 Taco, you will need this Dasita MAX 6 unit: https://www.amazon.com/Dasaita-Andr...aita+max+6+tacoma&qid=1619467404&sr=8-10&th=1

This unit comes complete with everything you will need to connect to your factory harness.

The 2011 TACOs uses a canbus, so the Dasita unit comes with the canbus adapter. This adapter retains your steering wheel controls, as well as allowing the head unit to display and modify factory settings originally controlled in your factory head unit. I am not familiar with your model, so I don't know what setting is will allow you to see. In the gen 3s, it allowed things light tire pressure monitoring, door monitoring, lighting settings etc.

Is anyone running hal9k on a new px6? Looking for a better UI so agama might be fine, but it seems as though there are more/better features in a whole new rom? But I'm seeing both references to it working on px6, as well as complaints that the developer hasn't updated for px6 yet.

    I'm on Android 10, mcu_ha_v3.62_1

That's what I use and it fixed multiple issues for me and improved the sound. Love the mod - probably wouldn't have kept the HU without it.

    Mine's the RK3399 PX6.

I installed it per the XDA forum page instructions:

    Update from Android 9:
The installation is similar to a regular firmware update
    1. Copy the firmware file update.zip to a USB flash drive / SD memory card formatted in FAT32
    2. Insert a USB flash drive / SD memory card into the device
    3. In the window that appears, click "Install"
    4. After installation, the device will automatically restart one more time to complete the installation of Magisk.
I then paid for it and it auto updated

Sorry to.belabor this, but that's the thread I already saw that ends in people.complaining about there not being an update for Android 10. To confirm, you're saying you flashed his over top of the stock 10 rom, or did you already have 9?

Out of the box mine does Android auto wirelessly, which I think is a new thing. I'm guessing I would lose that if it goes to 9?

The only adapter you may want is: https://www.discountcarstereo.com/sumi-sma.html

This will allow you to use your factory GPS antenna.
