New TPMS not working

So I just received my new tires and wheels with new TPMS sensors. I had the tires mounted and assumed the new sensors needed programmed for my truck not knowing that the sensors already came pre-programmed. Now my tire pressure light is on and have no clue how to fix the issue entirely. Anyone have any suggestions?

Well the sensors are reading no sensor detected on the computer

 

They can be reprogrammed. I personally went to Les Schwab (I think Firestone does them as well) and it costed around $24 for all four sensors.

 

I could try a different shop but it didn’t make sense to me that all 4 sensors were reading not detected

 

Someone fat fingered the programming tool.

Take it back and ask them to make it right.

 

I'm assuming you bought this wheel and tire package online?

You need to have someone with a scan tool program them.

The seller was full of shit. You need to find a shop with a by-directional scan tool or stand alone TPMS programmer.

IMO the easiest company to program TPMS sensors for is Ford a certain key and brake action will put it into learn mode, but you have to have the receiver tool which is dirt cheap to run around the vehicle. I don't think Toyota does this, but maybe someone else can chime in.

 

Find a tire shop it will be cheaper than sending them back

Any reputable shop will have a programmer... Call around until you find one willing to do it the right way.

 

The shop I went to does have a programmer. When they hooked it up it read no sensor detected

 

They would only be pre-programmed, if you scanned all your original sensors, sent them the codes, they programmed the codes, then they sent the wheels.

I assume you did not do this.
