My steering rack looks similar to yours with the same sort of sludge on the shafts. I kind of always wondered about it, but I would say that the fluid on the right side of it is more of a problem

New front pads and rotors, and changed the oil. Good day working on the truck and not being in a rush.

Can anyone confirm that this bolt size will work for the front leafspring hanger?

Ok, so I finished replacing my inner and outer ties rods and this is what I've got...

    20210531_173809.jpg

The tires don't sit flat on the pavement. Outer edge has too much contact while inner edge has none. I counted the visible threads on both sides and made sure the same number was showing when I finished up. The job was fairly simple, so I don't know how I screwed it up, but clearly I did. Planned on going and getting an alignment tomorrow, but this is nearly undrivable. A short drive around my block was terrible. Any alignment gurus out there who can tell me what I did wrong?

Here are the passenger's side and driver's side in that order as seen from behind for clarity.

I need to get this figured out!

Wow that's crazy. My steering wheel was a little off after I did mine but not the camber. If you just set it back on the ground after being on jack stands for awhile it'll look a little more positive than normal but not that extreme. Curious to hear what others say.

Hope you don't have to drive too far to the alignment shop lol.

If you can limp it to the alignment shop then Don’t worry about it. If you need to adjust it, just unscrew the outer tie rod a few turns on both side

Finished my frame patch at the RH RR Upr Shock mount, cleaning/painting entire rear section of the frame with rust resolver paint, and installed a high performance (;)) Walker exhaust from O'Reilly's.

I have new gaskets ordered for the fuel inlet and pump lid. I broke loose all of the bolts on both, and unbelievably did not twist off any of them. As you can see the gaskets are pretty well deteriorated.

Is that just after letting it down from the jack? If so roll it back about 10 feet and pull forward again. Then re check.

I’d just take it in for an alignment, let them deal with it.

Do an alignment yourself till you can get it in. Take the tires off with jack stands under the lca to represent them at ride height and measure from a straight edge across each rotor on the front and back. Front should be about an 1/8 farther in than the back. Been doing all my own alignments for years this way with no issues. This should get your toe close and help fix the camber. Alignment shop will fine tune the camber though. I’m no help there

So jack the truck up, disconnect the tie rods, lower the truck, adjust the tie rods enough to reconnect them to the spindle? The tires will sit flat on the pavement without the misadjusted tie rods connected?
