Ordered in March, still no allocation date. 4-6 weeks wait time after allocation. Wondering if I should just pull the plug and get ready for the 2022...

    No allocation = no order.

How sure of this are you?

I received a confirmation of Toyots accepting the order then paid the deposit. Since I've been in contact with the dealer whom I personally contacted every few weeks. Not sure why they would play games.

Recieved delivery date on June 25th. Estimated date to be delivered July 14-19th. Actually delivered July 24th.

What do you mean about “confirmation” that Toyota accepted the order? Toyota does not accept orders. The dealers are given allocations and they can tweak them a little (such as color if far enough in advance) and port options are changeable. However, if the truck is not allocated to them, they are “hoping” to get it from another dealer’s allocation. There are enough people on here that thought they “ordered” a truck only to find they were SOL months later. If your dealer doesn’t have an allocation in the pipeline, you have nothing but an empty promise. Hopefully it works out for you. Look at JennJenn’s post immediately after you. His dealer “found one” after the one he “ordered” was taken. I wish you well, but try to push for a commitment on an allocation that you know is coming and then tweak it.

my truck, built May 5,has yet to transition to 'in-transit' status. parked somewhere I suppose, perhaps waiting on rail transit. I figure its at least 2 -3 weeks after it hits 'in-transit' (whenever that happens) until dealer delivery, so it is looking like 6 -8 weeks after build date at the moment based on my experience. Heavy impact to my summer plans, but it is what it is. 'stuff' happens. On bright side got target build (mostly) at $500 below MSRP which is ok, I guess, in these times.

After dropping the deposit I waited four weeks to reach out to the sales manager, prompt response acknowledging my inquiry and saying they were looking into it (little more than an automated reply). After a week of silence I politely followed up. That got a response the following day (Sat 5/29) that they would know a build date on 6/2. Those first four weeks were a breeze--knew I'd be waiting ~12wks so no need to get excited for Christmas day in early October. However, now I'm giddy over (potentially) finding out a build date tomorrow. I shouldn't be but I am.

You're a couple weeks ahead of me in this process it seems. The inventory manager I'm dealing with told me he expected to know a build date some time in mid-June. So far he's been quick with real responses to my inquiries, so I'm hopeful that it'll go well.

I signed paperwork with locked in sale price of vehicle and all things to be included. They told me a week later that Toyota accepted the order with a document saying approved and the date (to be fair this could be easily created in many ways). I am not dismissing what you are saying, simply doesn't seem logical to sign paperwork for the vehicle down to specs and pay the deposit for the dealer to give me the run around. I was quoted for delivery to be May. Then as things went he said the chips are an issue and it will take longer. I have known the guy prior to the order and talk to him on the phone every few weeks. I am just trying to find the benefit of being deceptive if the sale price is signed and locked in. I am suspicious of most things, so I won't argue. Just doing the math.

salesman has access to 'dealer daily' on Toyota network, and some status / tracking info in there - mine has shared screenshots of same periodically.

I am not saying the salesman is being deceptive, but more that there is no 2-way communication. The salesman is “hoping”‘to get you one and will honor the price if he is lucky enough to find one for you. That it totally different than his dealership having an allocation on the way that he has a RIGHT to. He truly wants to make the sale at the price that you have agreed to, but if the truck is not allocated to his dealer — and that should be something he can confirm to you, then you are both wishing upon a star. Ask the salesman if the truck is an allocation to his dealership and that he has a right to it over all other takers.
