I'm still hoping my noise is just an exhaust rattle but I'm starting to suspect the nose drive.

Interested in hearing what ever sound you are describing, I had a similar sound upon initial start up which went away after the first hundred miles or so after the install. Just so happens I live in Layton and work down in Riverton.

Any of you FI guys got oil samples yet? Curious how they'd report.

I just change mine every 5000 miles and use a catch can - I suppose some elements may have different results from NA. Good question though. Maybe someone here will send in a sample and report. I wonder is California did any testing on this as part of their CARB Cert ? They certainly seem to like to pry into anything that potentially affects ecology and health.

I'm not even close in mileage after the install.

That's interesting. I would assume most have more blow by than NA Which can affect oil. But I figure it's moot with a catch can. Still an interesting data point though.

Adding the supercharger now, but like the throttle response and shift patterns of the OVTUNE. What issues, if any, will if have if i don't remove it before installing the Magnuson programming?
Maybe asked and answered - apologies if it has been -please point me in right direction.IMG_0187.jpg

You will want to run the Magnuson supplied software otherwise the tuning parameters are going to be off. It's one thing to let the truck idle on the stock software or maybe even cruise around at low rpm's but I wouldn't suggest driving the truck with a supercharger installed and not using the appropriate software.

Thank you - wanted to know if I can add the magnuson program on top of or in conjunction with the OVTune or need to re flash to stock and lose the OVTune.....

You don't need to flash back to stock. The magnuson software will wipe out the changes the OV file made.

At 700' elevation instead if the usual 6000' I live at the truck performs much, much better. Even with heavier 33" ST Maxx tires the truck will chirp the tires into second gear.

My running starts at 6 and usually goes up. Also with 35’s. What gearing do you have?

    Hey Guys,

I’m about to jump on the Magnusen Bus. Couple of questions to help with sticker shock.

Can I expect my gas mileage to drop say 3-4mpg on average? Say my 17.8 avg now likely going to 14ish? And is 91 octane going to cut it when higher boost pulleys and tunes become an option? Say 8-10psi?

Also, how quick does the boost get to 7psi?

    Thanks!

You can expect a drop of zero mpg average after the ecu learns, BUT keep in mind if you use the boost excessively like I do you can make your mpgs as bad as you want. I’m averaging 11mpg on my current tank, but get around 16mpg when I'm in a calmer mood.
Can’t comment on if 91 will cut it on 10psi because no one has ran 10psi. It already boosts above 8psi near redline on my gauge and 91 is fine there.

boost reaches 6psi around 2000rpm, 6-7psi at 3000, 7-8psi at 4500 and almost 9psi at 6200 on my gauge once or twice though 8 psi is more likely. (These are estimates from memory) in first gear you’ll hit 7psi before you can blink.

Glad to see some more Magnuson owners in the SLC area!!.

Btw I'm very tempted to start experimenting with smaller pulleys since I max out around 6psi at higher elevations (4500ft)

    Great thread of info.
Got the magnusson installed about 2000 miles now and it’s been a blessing. Better highway mpg not so good around town mileage. Really impressed with overall performance gain as the engine was a bit under power for what would make sense on the build. Got an awning, water, and fridge under a go fast camper in the bed area. Sliders, a long range America tank, and skid plates so again with the added weight I can really appreciate this investment in and engine as opposed to starting another build. Wish I had a boost gauge though as that info would be cool to have.
