New car for the wife

Currently my wife drives a Lexus GS430. She wants a SUV but doesnt wanna drive my Denali cause its way to big she says. She enjoys driving the Tacoma but shes not a truck kinda girl. She has it narrowed down the 3 choices. Any personal experience or knowlege about these cars would help.

Infiniti FX50
Range Rover HSE
Porsche Cayenne

And please dont tell me THOSE ARENT TACOMAS THEY SUCK. TOYOTAS RULE! or anything like that. Its her SUV and those are the 3 she likes.

 

I guess your user name explains why you would even be considering these vehicles with the gas prices skyrocketing upwards.

Not hating, just an observation.

Anything British made would be a no go for me if that helps and the Porshce gas mileage is prohibitive.

Did she look at a Lexus RX 350 or the new Acura coupe (looks like a BMW 650 coupe)? I saw on of those the other day and nearly fell out of my car...very sweet looking.

 

Yeah but get like 15 miles to the gallon.

 

Not trying to be rude but he didn't ask about mpg or any of the pros and cons just asked if anyone had personal exp with any.

Fair enough. I don't have personal experience, but the Infinity is one sexy beast.

 

myself, I like the Infiniti FX50. My wife said that is the one she would get also.

 

ooops Sorry I guess Imeant infinity and not ACURA....I agree with the above. The infinity is a sweet looking SUV.

 

Have you considered an Acura?

Acura MDX or RDX

Cheaper - yes. Less expensive to maintain - yes. Save some $$ and take more trips and buy her more clothes.

My husband has a 2006 MDX. Or how about a 4Runner?

 

I would run from the range rover, unless you love repair bills. The porsche is decent, but honestly I think you would expect more from it with the porsche nametag. That infiniti is bad ass, but crazy expensive for a fancy nissan. as long as the price tag doesn't matter, the infiniti would be my choice.

We were looking at the Audi Q7 but wife drove it and thinks its alittle too big so were going back to drive the Q5 after the snow stops. Plus they had a very nicely loaded Meteor Grey Pearl one for around 42g

 

I have a buddy in Washington state that bought a used Cayanne. I think it had like 30 some thousand miles on it. Drove it half way across the country and back, fried the transmission. Cost $6000 to fix. It was 600+ just for the fluid! I don't have any more details other than that. Needless to say he doesn't like to talk about it. It's a sweet ride but DAMN!

I would shy away from Land Rovers as well just cause all the people I have known who have had one end up getting rid of them because of the cost of repairs. Maybe the new ones are better about it, I dunno.

Land Rover - A lease maybe but as a purchase. Get ready to replace in a few year.

 

My wifes friend has a new Acura MDX and it's pretty cool but not her favorite looking suv. We have driven Audi Q5 and I loved it! It handled very well and was pretty quick. I personally am a huge fan of the Cayenne....not the v6 if she got one it would be the S or GTS. The FX50 does look very sexy and is very quick (300+ hp). The Range is very classy looking but I don't wanna deal with the problems. Gas mileage isn't a huge deal to me. I have a Yukon Denali that blows dick at gas mileage so if her new SUV gets better gas I'll be happy. The Denali is for family trips or nights out with the guys.

Anyone else have any knowledge or experiences? All input is appreciated. Il keep u guys updated on what she gets.
