That’s crap. Sorry you had to go through that. The Costco dealer I worked with didn’t do anything like that with me. Dealership was 120 miles away, but that’s the worst part about it. Everything else was a breeze.

Base OR pricing starts around 36k. MSRP is factory suggested price including any packages or accessories. MSRP for your TRD OR would have been about $40k.

My TRD Sport ACLB with the packages and accessories I ordered was MSRP $40,535. I had the dealer add tinted windows and blackout package for the side (Toyota would only let the dealer add one of three packages). After incentives, I paid $40,677.

Someone with a better idea on how it works with the window sticker. I was told at the dealership closest to me the left column under MFG optional equipment could not be removed from an allocation, but the Gulf states addons can be removed unless if I'm willing to wait 3+ months for an approved allocation from Toyota with no addons. Oddly enough the dealer that worked with me last year got me my allocation with no addons. Using OP's window sticker for reference [/QUOTE]

When I found a allocation to a dealership that I wanted it had 2k of options from Port that I did not want. Now it was scheduled to be built 3 weeks in the future but the dealer was able to remove almost all the options from it. They could not add or change major things like color at that point. That is how my experience went, I guess it depends how close it is to being built or if it is already built.

There are shortages of computer chips and dealers are not getting enough cars so they are hiking the price 6k-10k

    MSRP / window price
    Philadelphia area

Most of the dealerships I found with something in stock had 5-10+k worth of dealer installed options. I was able to get lucky and found one that was new in stock and with nothing but factory options and priced @ MSRP.

In hindsight, I'm happy with how things worked out because I am installing additional options aftermarket for under 4k. Heated and cooled leather seats, speaker upgrades, and tonneau cover. I would imagine finding a configuration with all of these (save the cooling) would be significantly more on the sticker.

About 6 weeks in advance, I was able to get them to remove all port adds and stop any dealer adds.
I too, was not able to change color.
That was how I got a TRD OR with no additional options..... at @ 9% off.
MSRP was $36.725 and I was otd for $34,500 including dealer fee, tax and registration

Thought I'd chime in. 2016 Tacoma TRD OR 4x4 DCLB Got mine from a Toyota Dealer in Utah. One owner, no accidents, serviced at that dealership, 84k miles. Paid about $25,800ish for it. Might be looking to sell now because of the market.

I was looking to get a Midnight black metallic TRDOR 4x4 DCSB with the advanced tech package. I was told it has an ETA of 4to 6 weeks, they could only remove the gulf states add-ons.

Picked up my TRD Sport 4x4 DCSB on 5/24. Put a deposit on 4/14. I was worried they would mark up when my truck got delivered but they honored the price we agreed on $38404 (42k OTD) . If you are in the Bay Area check out Freeman Toyota in Santa Rosa!

That's my window sticker so hopefully I can shed some insight.

Yes, you got it mostly right. The "hard options" from the factory itself are set pretty early when the dealership has an allocation and adds those hard options that they think a customer will want if the vehicle is for inventory or the options the customer has stated they definitely do want if it's pre-sold. The Southeast Toyota port options (far right side) can be added or removed from the time of the first allocation order right up until it physically gets to port. The dealership I got mine from - Bill Penney in Huntsville, AL - along with 99.999999% of all other Southeast Toyota dealerships add a lot of port installed options that have a lot of profit margin in them for cars they want in inventory. 99.9999999% of all Southeast Toyota cars on the lot have at least Toyoguard (total crap), iPhone cables, some sort of paint protection film package, mats, etc. This typically raises the price by close to $2K on average. So those same dealerships can advertise "$5k off on all new Corollas!" at the end of the month because they have a couple of grand of pure soft profit in them from those fluff options.

Part of the benefit of getting an allocation from the get go is skipping all of that and literally adding just want you want to add. The price is lower and you get the vehicle to your exact specs. The con is the wait of 2-3 months. Trust me, I was pacing the floor over the last month and half hoping it would get in just a little quicker, but in the end, I would do it the exact same way all over again.

Yes. This was how it worked for me. Southeast Toyota seems similar to gulf. I waited a long time to get an OR with absolutely no options from the factory in cement with the black with orange stitching interior. And had them make sure that they didn’t add any stupid Toyoguard or paint protection at the Port.

Likewise with me, no dealer adds at the port, and a sign on my rear view mirror when it arrived at the dealership “No Adds!” so the dealership did not put on tint, alarms, etc.

I live in NW Georgia and I ordered a 2021 Tacoma SR5 V6 Barcelona Red today from local dealer. I was told it would probably be 30-45 days before it’s here and I’m ok with that. I agreed to trade in my ‘08 Tacoma base truck with 413,000 miles and my cost was a little less than 30K out the door.

Do you get to drive your ‘08 in the meantime or do you have alternative means?
