All rotational weight reduction helps, though rotors<wheels<tires, so all weight is not equal. The further out the weight is, the more of an impact it has, meaning the tire has the biggest effect. Reducing weight throughout the system does help offset it though, but isn't 1:1.

I wheel my trucks in the sharp rocks of the PWN mountains, stuff you wouldn't want to stand on in bare feet in some areas with sharp rock fields. 15+ years on C-loads without an issue and wouldn't ever run an E-load. I think many believe Cs are more fragile than they actually are. But the tire also matters. If you are not running a specialized tire with designed sidewall protection, all bets are off. If you are into super extreme off road there is a tipping point where weight penalties and performance loss of heavier tires become acceptable for increased durability. I aim to balance durability while still prioritizing performance.

I hear you there. That’s where I am at now. been on the e rated train but keep debating if it’s really needed but not many options to choose from outside of it. There are but super limited.

I'm about to try some 35" D Rated Mickey Thompson MT's this go around. I've been E rated for all my other tires in the past. The Mickey's measure in at 34.8" at 68.6lbs. My new wheels are saving me a couple lbs each. By changing wheels and going from 33's to the 35's I'm gaining 8lbs per corner. Curious how it will perform. MT's website says the measured height is based off a 10" wide wheel. I'll be on a 17x9 -25mm offset. Also changing to Wilwoods (whenever they come in).

They now offer that Baja boss in a 35x10”wide tire. Looks like a nice option

interesting, curious to see if you get a 35" or a 33". I need to see what mine is based off but I want to say it's prob a 8 or 8.5" because on a 9" the 34.4/5" measure is more like 33.6"

I sure hope its not a 33" it definitely shouldnt. It's one of the tallest 35's out there.. so we'll see.

Does anyone happen to have 2 lower parts of the spindle/knuckle with the steering stop handy? I cut mine off when I put the RACE lowers on but will be swapping to +2 Expo set which requires these to use the stop. Long shot but see who may have it. Goign to post in the LT/MT threads too.

That is going to be a tough one to come across. If you don’t, I have seen someone just grab some 1” solid rod and weld it back on/ shape it as needed. Or you can pay $$$ for some new oem ones probably

If yours is similar to 4th gen 4runner, I might have a pair. Assuming it's the same but i can't be sure. I ended up getting a pair of spindles for my fj and removed them. Need to check I have both sides. I have one for sure lol. Let me confirm and we can trade or you buy mine.

Pretty sure the spindles are the same for FJ and Tacoma, Complete axles, the suspension is swappable between platforms. does the 4th gen fit the FJ? If so then likely it would work.

the knuckles are actually different. where the ball joint bolts into has a different taper/size of hole. found out this back in 2008 when i put a lift on the truck. had SPC arms that came with ball joints for a fj and not a tacoma and there was no way to bolt the to the spindle/knuckle. the ball joint was too big

Def interesting since most UCA parts are interchangeable. Good to know. Sounds like a fun adventure. I’d just trade mine when I sell the lowers but will need them for install.

It has been a rough start to the year for my truck. Transmission swap, hydro bearing failure, bad transfer case, 1 or two things I'm forgetting, now the fan clutch went out. not sure when, but I noticed the truck was running hot. It cools down some at speed. I spun the blade by hand and it had little resistance.
    Just venting.

I’ll add that one pair of LCA can bolts are different diameters as well. And the center to center distance is 3/8” narrower per side drivers to passengers dimension.
