I can do turn taps too. Also a parking tap. Some LED strip lights have reverse as well. At some point this week I am go start a thread with a more comprehensive solution using a plug in the bed for a disconnect.

The tap has two wires. + and a -. So you can just hook it straight to them. You can ground somewhere else if you want, but make sure you use a good ground spot. With the composite bed, that can be tricky.

OP made a killer custom harness for this bad boy. I had him set it up with a 6 position connector in case I wanted to get a different LED strip that supported reverse (the one I linked has turns, running, running with lights on, and braking). It was a bit of a hassle to tap the other side for the turn signal but I enjoyed the project.

If you do end up with a turn signal tap, I recommended getting some corrugated wire tubing (forget what that's called) to protect the wire. I routed mine underneath the bed along the same general route as the trailer wire.

Interested in a harness. From my understanding, since these are drawing from the OEM system, what would the max amperage be allowed? I plan on using two KC hilites for my third brake light.

If you’re referring to the Cyclones, they only draw 0.42A each, so 0.84A for a pair. You’d be fine with that. If you’ve changed your brake lights to LED, you have even more free amperage to play with. I would recommend 2A extra, tops. If I misunderstood which lights you are going to use, I apologize. Let me know which ones you meant and I’d be happy to look.

Yup those are the ones. They're sitting on my desk and was trying to figure out how to wire them without t taps. I heard you die inside everytime someone uses one. I was tempted.

    It’s a slow death....

I’ll shoot you a PM. But yeah, these will work for a couple of the cyclones :)

Used a harness from @Puppypunter this past weekend to install a 3rd brake light on my new Softopper. It was so nice not to have to tap into my OEM harness like I had done on my 2nd gen! Thanks Puppypunter.
