I've got an odd sound coming from my '17 SR DCSB 2WD. It only seems to make the noise after a long drive, so replicating at the dealer doesn't seem to be possible. I'm wondering if anyone else may have experienced this, and what the issue was.

I took a 2.5 hour drive on the freeway, exited the freeway, and came to a stop at a light. When I went to accelerate, I heard this whistling/bird chirping kind of sound that goes away in a few seconds. It sounds to me like it's coming from something spinning perhaps, but I'm not sure. I do know 100% that it's not the undercarriage holes, as it only does it accelerating from a stop, not at higher speeds. This is the second time it's happened after a long drive. It doesn't seem to do it just driving around town.

    Anyone experience such a phenomenon?

****EDIT - I should have clarified, this is the 2.7L engine. I think the serpentine belt TCB is only for the V6 right?

Does the sound go away when you reach a certain speed? I had a similar issue; heard a chirping noise that got more frequent with speed but after 30 mph it drowned out.

also had some jerking while going into drive and reverse.

it turned out to be a bad u joint in the driveshaft.

I haven't tied the sound to speed yet. Seems to go away after a few seconds, and there's no jerking. It might be coming from the drivers side, as I can hear it reflecting off the car to the left of me when I put my window down. It's loud enough that you can clearly hear it in the cabin.

Idk if the 2.7's have that?

OP, could be belt or even an idler bearing?

Mine was replaced under warranty at about 45k. Sounded like a bird chirping. Especially when next to a structure. Like in a drive-thru after the engine was warmed up.

Does the AC being on or off have any effect?

My money on dry belt or belt tensioner not keeping proper tension anymore. Do the belt first.

Looking at the TSB's (HPFP and belt), they all seem to be limited to the 3.5L V6. I can't find anything related to the 2.7L.

I had to get the TSB for the V-pattern fan belt. Seemed to fix it.

As mentioned above, it could be a u-joint making the noise. I went through something similar many years ago on a Gen 1 tacoma. Cheap to just hit every zerk fitting in your drive train with some grease and see if that helps.

I don’t know if you’ve figured it out, but the multiple time I’ve had chirping it’s the wheel bearing. Easy fix.
