Well, the ability to engage the starter and use it as to move the taco in sketchy situations is enough on its own. Back in the low-technology days (before Clutch-start-cancel), I used this capability on several occasions while far off the road.

On one instance, it even took us out of quite a remote location when the engine would just not fire. We decided to go until the starter burned-up (as we were expecting), and then attempt to hike from that point.

Long story - short; the starter took us over miles of rough terrain track and quite steep hills. We gave it only some 10 minutes rest to cool off after each mile or so... Eventually, we secured a tow - which would not have been the case had we walked...

No hiking, no abandoned vehicle, etc...

The starter not only did not burn out, but it was undamaged and gave trouble free service until the truck was sold many years later.

Got an offer for $38.2k on my 2020 OR and MSRP on a bare bones TRD PRO LR inbound this month, so torn on what to do lol.

That’s an easy one, let me know where the LR is inbound at and I’ll swing through and pick her up since the dealer still doesn’t have an update for me.

Jk. I’d jump on it. This would just add to the collection of Tacoma’s you’ve had. This might actually be the keeper.

The local dealership that tried that on me, Larry H Miller Toyota, I basically said

"Thank you! Now I know to never walk through your door for anything ever again. If you are going to try to gouge your customers like that, I'm glad I know now your shop lacks ethics. There are plenty of other Toyota dealerships in the valley I can go to for help"

Mark Miller Toyota took awesome care of me and they are closer to my house.

So I think my TRD Pro might be defective.

It has never once been to the mall, and yet it spends a lot of time here. Should I be worried?PXL_20210602_014015008.jpg

"Tacoma TRD Pro will employ TRD-tuned Fox internal bypass shocks designed to deliver exceptional on- and off-road performance, but the crucial suspension change will be a taller suspension lift – 1.5 inches up front and 0.5 inches at the rear."

"Complementing the increased front lift is new TRD-engineered upper control arms. Featuring machine-forged aluminum construction for added strength, the new TRD upper control arms allow the FOX shocks to make use of the additional rebound stroke afforded by the lift by adjusting the angle of the ball-joint mount."
