    Distance matters!

It's a matter of transmitter to receiver efficiency, we could blast 500W from the transmitter but to get 50W to charge your phone, but do we want a microwave ourselves rolling down the road?

I suspect the Toyota is a 15W transmitter. Faster to use a wired port to recharge my phone, but handy to have feature. Road trips I'm using Android Car, nav, and podcast, so my phone is hardwired.

I can't say officially because I haven't tried in the Tacoma but the Qi chargers I have don't work face down. The charge coils are on the back side and don't work if there's something metal between the charger and the coils.

Serious question, if you can’t see the screen how can you be sure that it is charging? Are you going off an initial vibration when it starts to charge?

It didn’t work face down, mine has a light to the left side on the charger that is orange when charging or green when charged.

I really like these, but the idea of having this so close to your leg in Phoenix summer weather just doesn't sit well. 100-120 degree summers and car interiors easily reach 200 plus degrees here. Anyone else install these in a similar climate? I'm envisioning bbq grille marks and 3rd degree burns on my leg. o_O:bananadead:

I forgot about that light. I was so disappointed with its output that I went with a high power USB-C outlet that I installed.

Crack your windows. Once you install some gear to it, your leg should touch that instead.

I tried something. I made some fold out extensions to my platform bed (only 5' without extensions, +17" with extensions) so I can fit 2 people in the back. I thought about ways to do this and decided on using a hinge system for convenience. And then either pop the pins out of the hinge or remove the hinge bolts when I want to remove them.

I was hoping to get away with only using the slide out steel tubing, but it's a bit too flexy. Maybe some thicker steel tubing will do it, I'll have to iterate on the design a bit. But with the 2x4 stands, those platforms are solid.
I plan on using them for camping for good weather only. Now I can comfortably fit 2 people in the bed. I also have a trifold foam mattress (not pictured) that covers the whole bed.
And I can still easily store gear on top when they are folded in.

Next thing I will do is make a bug net that covers the back and maybe some ripstop too for a wind break. Although with your head towards the inside, it's not bad with the wind when you are in a sleeping bag.

Which series of the OtterBox are you using? I changed over to the Symmetry series and mine charges through the case:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z7T6MXI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8

With the old Defender I had it didn't work. If a belt clip is a must for you, there are several options on Amazon for holsters which will fit the phone with the Symmetry case on it.

Defender. I’ll have to check out the others with a belt clip. Thanks!

After waiting on Toyota to send me my second key for my 2021 for months, decided to just bite the bullet, rent this little gadget and purchase a key. $100 later, I have a second key. If Toyota ever decides to send the the second key, I’ll just end up with 2 spares.
