It is such a cool video tho. Change of scenery from the usual ones with the trees and the long rolling whoops. Smooth entry and exit, no cut off video. Trucks just floating with lots of tire on the ground and it's complete n tastefully done not a hacked up project or a purpose built racetruck. Maybe the rear suspension is jacking a little bit but still as good as it gets with leafs. Deserves all the hype imo

My wife and I were taking guesses when I showed her the video. I guessed about 45. She was like “idk, 100?”

Can anyone confirm that the 1st gen tundra axle with abs is indeed wider than the non abs rear?

Nope - I don’t think they’d reconfigure the entire vehicle based on it having ABS or not. I measured mine right at 66 1/4”.

So I take it this is their exclusive front valving not to be divulged by a PM? Lol I can't wrap my head around valving, blows my mind for some reason. My pop's truck was tuned by SDG before SDG came around so maybe I can tear his shocks apart and try to decipher what they did. Because my truck needs some serious work. It's super rough and feels like the rear pushes too much and the front is too soft. I've revalved it a couple times but no good results yet. Maybe 3.0s are too much?

Yeah that’s their secret sauce valving up front and I’m going to respect them and keep it hush hush. 3.0’s should be just fine really. I’m 2.5’s all around and they get HOT. I’d like to add some 3.0 bypasses up front and then upgrade the rears to some 3.0 5 tubes. That would probably make this truck as good as it can be

Because this is where all the cool kids hang out. Did hit them up about helping me with some rebuild kits. No response yet.

Figured! I've seen some of Karl's work and damn he's good!

Only reason I feel the 4 tube 3.0s are too much is that before I built my Tacoma, I had a Silverado that I bought built also with some secret valving on 3 tube 2.5s and that thing was smoooooooth. Tacoma has always felt like a rock. I bought everything to rebuild the shocks soon so I was thinking it would be perfect timing to mess with some valving.

Do you know what valving is in the rears?

Start opening tubes. If it still feels harsh, open them up and reduce the valving. Once you get to a point where you don't have enough valving in them you'll know the shock is too big.

A 3.0 isn't unheard of on a Tacoma. Just usually ran on the trucks that get abused.

Speaking of valving i just picked up my truck from dmz and he was saying he thinking the valving is too stiff i got the bypasses from dsm and they have 15/10 right now going to go mess with it this weekend and see how it feels but do you guys think that’s too stiff?

You have to realize that valving is very subjective. Bypasses have a lot of bleed so in a way no, a 15 stack on compression doesn't seem like too much IMO but again, there are too many variable to give a straight answer.

A 10 on rebound may be a little much for a leaf spring truck but you'll have to play with it an see.

Tube's have been cranked all the way open since day one per SAW's recommendation when I started messing with it. However SAW shock division went under shortly after that so no more support on what else to try and not too many people I've reached out to have been open to giving too much info. Someone suggested to try pulling leafs from the DMZ pack instead but I've been skeptical about that. I have a bed cage, boxed frame, tubular X brace, tubular bumper, and a matching beadlock 35" spare in the bed. Dunno if that's too little weight also.
