I get about 20 mpg on the highway and about 15 around town. It averages about 17-18 mpg per tank for me. I towed a 4900 pound boat yesterday in 4th gear at 55mph and averaged 16.5 mpg. Granted it is very flat where I live but I hit a few bridges and tunnels.

I drove from CO to IN and back last week and averaged 16.6mpg. It was all freeway at posted limits +6mph with cruise control set. My truck is not lifted but does have E rated 255/85/16s. Average mpg before the supercharger and tires was 18.3mpg, average since those is 17.3mpg.

I gave up hope on the twin turbo option. I'm hopeful that Magnuson someday gets their act together with regard to a proper tune. At the rate they go, I may end up in a Hybrid Tacoma or Rivian instead.....

This is where I am. I’m also at 6,000 feet so the underwhelming boost numbers at that altitude are an issue as well.

I wonder if the Magnuson provided tune corrects the truck computer that provides fuel mileage, distance to empty, etc.?

The supercharger shouldn't affect any of that.

If you mean for non-stock tire size, OVT can't correct the distance measurements it in the computer. You have to get something like https://www.yellr.com/yb_home.htm to do it.

It's still a huge improvement. I don't have a boost gauge so I can't give you numbers but it's definitely way, way better than the stock engine.

I was just guessing that forced induction would confuse the hell outta the truck in respect to mileage computations. No?

I was reading the SLC guys talking 6psi was tops and that was 4,500ft. They were looking to try smaller pulleys.

    just eating popcorn and waiting.

Thinner atmosphere at elevation means the compressor has to work harder. IMO there is more reason to go FI to help offset the decreased atmospheric O2 content at elevation.

True. This would just solve altitude boost differences that a tune would not. Getting a pulley that would provide say 12psi at sea level and set boost controller to whatever the Magnusen or other tune had your fuel/air mix adjusted for. Then altitude will not decrease boost #’s bc controller compensates.

So you would have to get a non-stock pulley to start with....and a tune that set up for that pulley as a starting point. Or am I thick (quite possible) and missing something?

It could be done as a stock solution by Magnusson. A 12psi sea level pulley with the addition to the kit of an electronic boost controller locked into setting the pressure at the level the fuel is tuned for, 8 psi ish. That would allow the boost controller to regulate pressures as elevation changes but is also a pretty good single point of failure leading to engine damage if it failed.

Yeah, well, that was my point. It's not a real "fix" for all but the most adventurous at this point. Magnuson needs to provide good tune for what they have. Or at least open up their tune for others to modify. By almost all accounts others have taken what the "master tuner of all master tuners" did and provided much better actual tunes.

Magnuson wasn’t trying to eek out the most performance with their tune, they offer a warranty so they are going to be on the conservative side.

Magnuson should either unlock their tune, incorporate changes that everyone wants with 3rd gens (why do you think tuning is so popular), or provide a FI guide on tuning. It’s already been proven that tuned trucks will pass emissions so that’s not really an excuse. Till then they will definitely be down in sales for reasons that everyone has mentioned. The fact that one can pay 250-350 for a tune that performs better than a supercharger that runs 6.5-7k with all the shitty problems the turd gen has and no option to have AGM charging or ANY throttle/shifting customizations is extremely disappointing. My name is karen and I want more whine.
